Following up on a story we first covered Jan. 9, 2014 regarding a dispute over the rewarding of a debris removal contract in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, a subsidiary of Santee Modular Homes in South Carolina is suing the county for failing to comply with federal guidelines and county guidelines in awarding the contract. Santee Debris Removal also says the out-of-state company that got the contract for debris removal in case of a disaster will cost an extra $1 million, according to thetandd.com. In addition, Santee has filed documents seeking a temporary injunction and temporary restraining order against the county to prevent it from awarding the one-year contract. MHProNews has learned Santee is also seeking unspecified monetary damages.
