Harking back to a post MHProNews published Feb. 23, 2016 regarding Wyoming Homes owner David Valenti pleading guilty to 19 counts of theft for not delivering modular homes for which he had been paid, he has now pleaded guilty to 21 counts of theft, alleging he stole over $240,000 from his customers.
Valenti, of Moosic, Pennsylvania, was sentenced by Luzerne County Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr. to serve nine to 18 months in the county jail, followed by ten years probation after his release, and ordered him to pay over $237,900 in restitution.
A handful of his victims addressed the court during his sentencing hearing. One woman claimed she had to fight tooth and nail for Valenti to deliver the house for which she had paid. When it finally arrived, Valenti began setting it up but left before it was finished. She then had to pay someone else to complete the job, after being told told the house would have to be disassembled and rebuilt because of Valenti’s poor work.
Another victim said Valenti, 63, delivered a house other than the one she ordered, and did not complete the installation. She does not even have title to the house, according to citizensvoice.
Other allegations include receiving down payments for modular homes that were never delivered nor was the money returned, and delivering homes that did not meet the quality standards agreed to. In another case he delivered a home two years after it was paid for, but did not follow through on the installation agreement.
In a letter to the court he apologized for his actions without acknowledging he had deceived his customers.
Theft charges are still pending for Valenti in Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties. According to a profile of him in 2011, he has been in the off-site built home business since he was 18, and with Wyoming Homes since he was 21. ##
