The National Modular Housing Council’s actual shipments report indicates that 3,701 new modular homes were shipped in the third quarter of 2010, up 5.4 percent from the same quarter in 2009. Data on shipments is tracked and reported in 29 states. Compared with the same period last year, state shipment results for the third quarter 2010 showed increases for 15 states, reductions in 4 states and 10 states with no significant change. The largest increase was reported in Iowa, the largest decrease in Missouri. Shipments were up in six divisions, with the East South Central states realizing the largest percentage gain, a 31.6 percent increase compared with the third quarter of last year. The Mountain division was essentially flat, while the New England states were the only division to post a loss this quarter. NMHC reported sales volume in the Pacific division was not significant.
