As part of Dublin, Ireland City Council’s drive to house homeless families that continue to increase in number quarterly, as MHProNews last reported March 3, 2016, work has begun preparing an open green space in Cherry Orchard for up to 24 modular homes.
Rife with anti-social behavior in the past, Sinn Féin Councillor Daithí Doolan, chairperson of Dublin City Council housing committee, told echo.ie: “These homes are not the long term solution. Work has started here in Cherry Orchard to prepare the site for rapid build housing. These homes will be for local families waiting to be housed in the local area.”
An area known as the former convent lands in Mourne Road, Crumlin, is scheduled for 29 modular homes. It is one of the few vacant housing sites in a well-established residential community. ##
