Modular Homes Rising in UK Neighborhood Known for Prefab Homes

Liverpool__GB__liverpoolecho_co_uk__credit__modular_homesAs a means to deal with the high demand for housing in Liverpool, England, Liverpool Mutual Homes (LMH) has begun preparing home sites for 33 eco-friendly modular homes to be placed in Belle Vale in southeast Liverpool. The £3.5 million ($5.42 million) project will consist of 21 modular homes with two bedrooms and 12 with three bedrooms, according to liverpoolecho.co.uk.

Steve Coffey, CEO with LMH said, “The demand for good quality affordable housing continues to grow nationally and is magnified in Liverpool. Building off-site means we are not affected by bad weather, the quality can be controlled better and there’s less disruption for the local community.

Due to be completed by the end of 2015, the homes will meet higher than usual energy efficient standards. Mr. Coffey added, “If successful in terms of better quality and quicker turnaround, it is something we will look at for future developments – the more homes we can offer residents and the quicker we can do it, the better.

Modular built homes offer the same quality as other forms of building and they can be more cost-effective.

MHProNews has learned the Belle Vale area of Liverpool is where over 1,000 prefabricated homes were built to replace those destroyed by the Blitz during World War II. ##
