27east tells MHProNews modular housing has begun arriving in Amagansett at the far eastern tip of Long Island, New York next to St. Michael’s Lutheran church. With a $4.9 million grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to non-profit St. Michael’s Housing Associates, the modular sections will form 40 two-story, 650 square foot units for senior citizens. Since the transport trucks can only use the George Washington Bridge at certain times, the modules are arriving in the early morning hours. Come Aug. 6, a crane will arrive from a Clayton Homes facility in Pennsylvania to begin assembling the units, with occupancy set for Nov. 1. “We’ve got so many people that are waiting to get applications,” Pastor Katrina Foster said last Thursday. “It’s not going to be difficult to get them rented.”
