Build.co.uk reports from England that Powerwall will ship 44 new modular units from its facility in Scotland to add a full story to an existing apartment building of 112 apartments that houses students and medical workers in London. Powerwall has a patented Volumetric modular system for constructing the units, and the company will also provide exterior insulation, and fixtures for the baths and kitchens. “We chose the Powerwall modular building system to minimize construction time, thereby reducing disruption to residents, who are all students or key workers at Imperial College and Hammersmith Hospital,” said Steve Kelly, divisional manager at the Apollo Group. Domenic Tedesco, managing director of Powerwall, says, “As the units are partially completed off-site it means less time and hassle for the contractor on site. Moreover our system exceeds all the current building standards for thermal efficiency, insulation and sound proofing.” The project is expected to take two- and-a-half years to complete.
