MHProNews has learned from CorrectionalNews a U.S. company built a modular 1,232-cell federal prison in Chiapas, Mexico using local workers for the project. Pennsylvania-based Rotondo Weirich’s Latin America arm, RW Antares, partnered with Arendal to establish an onsite facility making the 376 precast concrete modules. The extreme heat in Southern Mexico that required cooling the concrete, combined with the language barrier, did not prevent the modules from being set in just 26 days. MHProNews has learned RW Antares brought in over 75 truckloads of correctional plumbing, lighting, windows, security doors and glass, and furniture for the project.
