At the Modular Building Institute’s (MBI) annual conference in Orlando, Florida last week, the president of Whitley Manufacturing, Simon Dragan, was inducted into the association’s Hall of Fame as part of its World of Modular event. A veteran of the modular industry for over 30 years, Dragan came to the U.S. as a refugee from Romania with $10.00 in his pocket and began his career as a draftsman in 1972. MarketWatch tells MHProNews.com He later joined what became Williams Scotsman, and then purchased their flagship factory in South Whitley, Indiana, in the northeastern part of the state. With plants in Marysville, Washington and Rochester, Indiana as well as South Whitley, the company has constructed diverse commercial modular buildings nationwide and overseas, winning over 50 “Awards of Distinction” from the MBI. Says Dragan: “I have succeeded because of my employees, many who have been with me for over 20 years. I thank them for their hard work and dedication to our industry.”
