The housing shortage in Minot, North Dakota has been exacerbated by the Souris River flooding in 2011 and the oil boom in western ND, and extends to Minot State University where a shortage of 75 beds for the coming fall semester exists. Beaver Lodge, modular housing installed in 2011, will accommodate those 75, but housing director Devin McCall expects more students will need campus residency before the fall term begins. He says the school may add a third student to a dorm room normally accommodating two students, or seek temporary lodging in a hotel. Meanwhile, first-year students will likely be living in the Beaver Lodge modular units, as minotdailynews tells MHProNews.
