EarthTechling informs us the Solar Decathalon Europe competition was won by a French team’s modular, stackable solar home that produces enough energy to earn the net zero ranking—-and charge the family’s electric car. Utilizing a nano tower design, the Canopea can be stacked vertically for high density sustainable housing, and each unit will retain a full 360 degree view that can be shaded or opened due to louvers covered by solar panels. Harvesting rain as well as sun, the towers could be built out as well as up. MHProNews has learned regardless of how tall the stack, the top floor of the modular unit contains a laundry, a garden, a summer kitchen and common space for socializing.
