MHProNews has learned from riverheadnewsreview on Long Island, New York that single-family home construction has risen in Riverhead Town, nearly doubling last year over 2013, including factory-built homes. Although it is considerably less than the 381 permits let in 2002 and 271 in 2003 in the run-up to the housing downturn, 2014 saw 77 new home permits, 18 of which were manufactured or modular homes. In 2013 there were only 46 total permits.
According to the U. S. Census Bureau, nationally Riverhead is on track with the rest of the nation: In 2014, 1.03 million permits were filed as compared to 990,800 in 2013. The numbers are also consistent with New York state: New housing permits rose 8.7 percent to 35,448. ##
