The owner of a northern Idaho manufactured home community where sewage lagoon waste has been entering the South Fork Palouse River has been ordered to pay $100,000 for violating the Clean Water Act.
The Moscow-Pullman Daily News tells MHProNews that on Wednesday, February 18, U.S. District Court Judge Candy Dale ordered Magar E. Magar to pay the civil penalty to the federal government no later than March 1.
A resident of the Syringa Mobile Home Park, stands next to a hole where a water main has been fixed going into the park east of Moscow.
Dale also ordered Magar to make sure the park’s wastewater system was under competent and licensed personnel by March 1. Magar is not allowed to shut off water or sewer service to residents to keep the system in compliance.
Magar is also facing lawsuits from tenants and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality over wastewater services.
