“The IRS has gotten complaints about two groups involved in a “disinformation” scheme,” said the WND News Center in a report provided to MHProNews readers below that cited the National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) as the organization filing the IRS complaint. NLPC’s “Corporate Integrity Project” has also “sponsored” a move by a Berkshire Hathaway (BRK) shareholder to reign in what they termed “politicized philanthropy.” Furthermore, NLPC reports they have pressed to have Warren Buffett removed from the Berkshire Hathaway board as chairman and asked for an independent director to be appointed in his place. These various efforts by the NLPC offer potential lessons for the manufactured housing industry’s beleaguered professionals, which will be unpacked in this evidence-packed report and analysis. These NLPC developments are also part of an apparently growing pattern of pushback by various groups, leaders, and public officials across the left-right spectrum in what has been called a rigged and corrupted cronyism system (click to see graphic).

IRS gets complaint about 2 leftwing groups involved in ‘disinformation’ schemes
Accused of failing to meet disclosure requirements

The IRS has gotten complaints about two groups involved in a “disinformation” scheme.
The pair of nonprofits, Disinformation Index. Inc., and AN Foundation, both were linked to the Global Disinformation Index, a U.K. entity that covertly blacklisted conservative media in America because they reported facts that disagreed with the entity’s pro-liberal agenda.
The Washington Examiner reported that The National Legal and Policy Center is accusing both groups of violating a long list of federal rules and regulations, and wants the IRS to revoke their tax-exempt status.
The Examiner reported the organizations had cited an obscure federal exemption to provide the Examiner weeks ago with “heavily redacted copies” of 2021 tax forms, forms that are supposed to be available to the public.
“This complaint is based on information regarding the questionable activities of these two organizations by investigative reporter Gabe Kaminsky in a series of recent news stories in the Washington Examiner and information found in their respective Form 990s and other public reports,” the NLPC complaint explained.
“Both the Disinformation Index, Inc. and its related AN Foundation (formerly Disinformation Index Foundation) have violated a number of IRS rules and regulations.”
It charged that among the issues are that “GDI pocketed roughly $960,000 combined between 2020 and 2022 from both the State Department’s Global Engagement Center, an interagency under fire from House Republicans for funding purported disinformation tracking initiatives, and the National Endowment for Democracy, a nonprofit group authorized by the government that is funded almost entirely through congressional appropriations. This revelation has resulted in lawmakers, including House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY), launching investigations into GDI to uncover government records.”
Last month, the Examiner documented how the two groups failed to disclose, on public records, details like the names of board members, officers, and sources of income.
The groups said the redactions were to avoid “harassment campaigns” but experts told the Examiner the evidence shows those provisions don’t apply.
The NLPC now is alleging the two GDI U.S. groups are failing to meet IRS disclosure requirements also by not listing their relationship to the British group on federal tax forms.
The organizations also are suspected over overpaying their “president,” at the rate of $1,300 an hour for one hour per week.
“It is hypocritical that a group whose mission is to censor conservative media for alleged ‘disinformation’ is itself guilty of hiding its funding sources and redacting the names of its officers from public view,” explained Paul Kamenar, a lawyer for the NPLC. ##

The Gates Foundation offers a Gender Identity Toolbox, which asserts that gender is the result of “socially and culturally constructed ideas.”
This is a lie. Gender is not a cultural construct. It is a genetic and biological fact.
We know how much Bill Gates cares about children. He met and traveled with Jeffrey Epstein MANY times AFTER Epstein was convicted of sex crimes.
The Gates Foundation had a huge influence over the COVID response fiasco. Bill Gates defended China’s COVID policies and still discounts the possibility that the virus originated from a lab, even though U.S. intelligence agencies disagree.
The Gates Foundation may be the largest single donor to the “dark money” machine known as Arabella Associates, which funds causes like defunding the police that are making American cities unlivable.
Money goes, too, to groups conducting threatening and vulgar protests at the homes of Supreme Court Justices.
Mr. Buffett has quietly funneled more than $4 billion to groups supporting abortion on demand through the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation.
That’s $4 billion, with a “b.” Advocacy disguised as philanthropy.
Bill Gates has lamented political polarization and has even worried aloud about a civil war. But it is billionaires who are funding the most shrill and extreme activists who are tearing our country apart.
Ironically, Mr. Buffett has pointed out that corporate executives can make a lot of people mad when they insert themselves into controversy.
Anheuser-Busch is finding that out. It cannot renounce its Dylan Mulvaney transgender promotion because it is handcuffed by its longtime support for activists who would turn on them in a minute.
Anheuser-Busch gets a perfect grade on the Human Rights Campaign scorecard, as do Berkshire portfolio companies like Coca-Cola, Bank of America, and Apple.
Bank of America and Apple help bankroll this group, which wants biological men to compete in women’s sports.
Worse, it is currently pressuring state legislatures to allow sex change operations on children, and to keep their parents out of the decision.
Let’s revisit Coca-Cola, which I discussed at last year’s meeting. CEO James Quincey, a British citizen, tried to kill Georgia’s voter integrity law in 2021 by making inaccurate and inflammatory statements about it.
That’s the law that President Biden called “Jim Crow 2.0,” and which prompted Major League Baseball to move the All-Star game out of Atlanta.
Mr. Buffett jumped on the bandwagon, too, by signing a statement by corporate leaders suggesting that Republicans seek to restrict ballot access based on race.
Two years later, we can now evaluate that accusation.
Last year, an election was held in Georgia. Turnout was record-breaking. According to an independent poll, 99% of voters said they had “no problem” casting ballots. And 92% said the new law either had no impact on their ability to vote or made it easier.
James Quincey was wrong, and Mr. Buffett, so were you.” ##

During the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting on Saturday in Omaha, Peter Flaherty had his microphone cut, was arrested, and forcibly removed from the arena.
Flaherty is the Chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC), which was the sponsor of Proposal #8 to “require hereafter that two separate people hold the office of the Chairman and the office of the CEO.”
In support of this resolution for an independent chair, Flaherty attempted to assert that Berkshire “would be less identified with Mr. Buffett’s personal political activities,” and cited Berkshire Chairman/CEO Warren Buffett’s support for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, among other factors.
Resolution proponents were allowed three minutes each to speak in support of their proposals. Three other proponents spoke before Flaherty without interruption, including Michael Frerichs, Treasurer of Illinois.
Video of the event shows that at 1:08 into his remarks, Flaherty was approached and interrupted at the microphone. It was by Cathy Woollums, a Berkshire official who was a designated liaison with proponents for the meeting. Not audible through the sound system, Woollums told Flaherty that he should stay “on topic.”
Flaherty stated into the microphone, “You are not going to censor what I say, ma’am. I’m very sorry. And I appeal to the Chair (occupied by Buffett) that I be allowed to continue. Sir?”
Buffett stated, “You may continue but under the three-minute limitation.” Flaherty replied, “Of course,” and resumed speaking at the 1:28 mark until the 2:04 mark when his mike went dead.
At the 1:55 mark Buffett attempted to start talking over Flaherty and appeared to give direction to other persons in the hall. This portion of Flaherty’s remarks concerned Bill Gates’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
Immediately, two representatives of Clark International Security approached and stood in front of Flaherty. He was told to leave or he would be arrested. Flaherty replied that he would leave when he finished his statement. At this point, Flaherty was not fully aware that his mic had been cut, was still under the three-minute limitation, and had already received a favorable ruling from the chair.
One of the Clark representatives summoned a uniformed Omaha policeman who was nearby and requested that he arrest Flaherty. He grabbed Flaherty by the arm, advised him that he was under arrest, and led him from the arena. Flaherty was transported by Omaha police to the Douglas County Corrections Center where he was searched, handcuffed, and charged with criminal trespass.

NLPC filed a similar proposal for an independent chair last year at Berkshire when Flaherty spoke in support of the resolution without incident. The proposal received support from diverse shareholders including the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS).
NLPC sponsors the Corporate Integrity Project and has engaged in shareholder activism since 2004. In 2023, NLPC is the proponent of proposals at 26 companies on a variety of topics.
NLPC-filed proposals for an independent chair were also considered, or will be considered, this year at Bank of America, Coca-Cola, Goldman Sachs, Home Depot, Mondelez, PepsiCo, Salesforce, and Visa.
Since 2004, Flaherty has spoken at the annual meetings of dozens of companies including Alphabet, Amazon, Bank of America, Boeing, Citigroup, Coca-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive, Goldman Sachs, Merck, Facebook (now Meta), PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble and Walmart. In connection to NLPC proposals, he has met with many corporate executives over the years, including then-PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi and then-GE CEO Jeff Immelt. ##

National Legal and Policy Center has filed an 11-page complaint with the IRS against the Disinformation Index, Inc., a public nonprofit charity. The Complaint also names the AN Foundation (formerly the Disinformation Index Foundation), a private nonprofit charity. The Complaint details a multitude of blatant violations of IRS disclosure rules regarding their respective Form 990 annual disclosure reports filed over several years. Violations cited in the Complaint include a failure to disclose funding sources, hiding officers’ identities, and paying excessive executive compensation to its president.
Both U.S.-based groups are related to the London-based Global Disinformation Index (GDI) whose mission is to get advertisers to stop placing ads on conservative websites by sending them a blacklist of websites they deem to contain disinformation. The top-ten hit list includes the New York Post, the Federalist, the American Conservative, One America News, and the Washington Examiner, which did a recent series of hard-hitting stories exposing the censorship activities of GDI.
Members of Congress have launched an investigation of the group after learning that their funding also comes from the National Endowment of Democracy, which in turn receives funding from the State Department.
“It is outrageous and hypocritical that a group whose mission is transparency is itself engaging in disinformation about its own operations,” said Paul Kamenar, counsel to NLPC, who drafted the IRS complaint.
“NLPC will continue to fight attempt to silence or cancel voices that certain people don’t like,” said Peter Flaherty, NLPC Chairman.

It should be noted that it takes a level of courage and chutzpah (click for definition/image) to confront Buffett during his own annual meeting and to do so in a manner that fits the protocols for such an effort. As was noted above, it should go without saying that removal of Buffett from his leadership role at Berkshire Hathaway, per NLPC’s Chairman Flaherty’s proposal, could have a positive impact on the manufactured housing industry. Who in MHVille trade media has ever suggested such a bold move as having Buffett removed from his leadership role at publicly traded Berkshire Hathaway?
Similarly, the notion of appealing to the IRS to have an organization’s nonprofit status removed – think about a possible parallel with the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) – could also be a bold and potentially useful step ahead for the manufactured housing industry. That is, so long as MHI would be replaced by some nonprofit organization that is not as arguably corrupted as MHI has become. Beyond the Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR), there are potential allies for manufactured housing industry independents, and for manufactured homeowners and potential consumers. How or if an organization like the NLPC might fit into that picture of the battle for the future of our profession remains to be seen.
While numbers of mainstream media outlets – notably, but not exclusively those which lean left – don’t give a great deal of coverage to more conservative nonprofits, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they lack influence. There are insights and lessons to be learned from not only the NLPC, but also from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the Job Creators Network (JCN), the Capital Research Center (CRC), and of course from MHARR. MHARR has fought and steadily exposed the corruption that has hobbled manufactured housing for far too long. MHARR has also supported the notion of establishing an alternative to MHI, though they have not specifically called for the abolition of MHI. As was noted above, and is reported in more depth in the article linked here, Law Professor Daniel R. Mandelker said in part that the manufactured housing industry needs a legal advocacy organization. Ironically, MHI claims to represent “all segments” of the industry. But Mandelker’s facts, evidence, and thesis make it clear that MHARR’s arguments have been quite correct. The samples from other nonprofits below illustrate how smaller businesses, and everyday Americans, are being beset by a range of issues that parallel some of the woes faced by manufactured housing independents – and arguably also of the employees of consolidators. Because fewer career paths means lower pay, per research such as what is reported at this link here. Consolidators are not only apparently punishing some of their competitors, they are circuitously harming employees of their manufactured housing company and others.
For those who assert that they favor free enterprise and constitutionally limited government, NLPC seems to offer a consistency between their stated stance and related action, as the above indicates. Like the Capital Research Center (CRC), NLPC pointed out the problems associated with the Arabella Advisors nonprofit, which was the subject of the MHProNews report linked above.
It is worth noting that it is not only those on the right that are calling out corruption in nonprofits that result in what has been called philanthro-feudalism, philanthro-capitalism, and the philanthropic industrial complex. The later is an allusion to the late President Dwight D. Eisenhour’s warning about the military-industrial spy complex.
For those who seek practical solutions to the issues that are plaguing the U.S., and manufactured housing more specifically it is essential that the links between corporate power and political power. Buffett spoke about that with CNBC in a longform interview in 2021.
The Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr) campaign for the Democratic nomination for president is steadily attracting attention. And in doing so, they keep rising in various public opinion polls. They were recently reported to be at 21 percent of Democratic voters. Kennedy has made it a cornerstone to his campaign’s mission to ‘End Corrupt Merger of State-Corporate Power Threatening New Feudalism in USA.’
While the two candidates are clearly different and are from different political parties, note Kennedy’s remarks are not so different than those cited below by deposed President Donald J. Trump, who is currently the runaway leader for the Republican nomination for President.
As was previously reported, MHI has a member that has argued that the organization has been turned into a tool for empowering corrupt and “f-cking greedy” corporations. That’s from a pro-free enterprise source that nevertheless condemned specific examples of so-called vulture capitalism.
While that differs in tone from what those that launched what became NAMHCO asserted, there are obvious commonalities too. Individuals and groups inside of MHI have said for years that the organization is not effective. Perhaps what they should have said is that the MHI nonprofit is arguably working for the interests of consolidators, and that all else is part of a smokescreen to cover that apparent agenda.
Why hasn’t MHI and their insiders sued, as they have threatened, in the face of the reporting by MHProNews/MHLivingNews? There are arguably several reasons, but among them is the point that the facts and evidence support the allegations, and the proper legal lingo has routinely been employed. Among that evidence are remarks by Warren Buffett, Kevin Clayton, and those by another loyal MHI member.
That corruption has undermined the American Dream for millions and it has simultaneously kept manufactured housing operating at a fraction of its historic highs or previous levels. The practices of MHI and their dominating members have at a minimum contributed to the six-month nosedive of the manufactured home industry during a well-documented affordable housing crisis.
Why is that low productivity and the status quo through much of the 21st century of manufactured housing operating at such a low level tolerated – or even desired – by some of the largest firms in the manufactured home industry? The answer to that is found in their desire for consolidation of the industry’s independents. A highflying industry that is creating new entries into their profession is more difficult and costly to consolidate than one that is operating at a lower level.
