Avon Park’s (Fla.) Planning and Zoning board is expected to issue final approval of a proposed 509 home site, age-restricted manufactured home community (MHC) in central Florida on 134 acres of former citrus land, as highlandstoday tells MHProNews. The proposed site is just east of Avon Park’s Crystal Lake Club, another 55+ community with 599 home sites.
Under Avon Park’s land use for the property, developer Crew’s Groves Inc. could site up to eight manufactured homes (MH) on the site, resulting in 1,072 homes, but the proposal leaves space for a large recreation area and green space.
City Manager Julian Deleon said, “The homes would be well spaced on 60-by-100-foot lots,” Deleon said. “The development concept is quite interesting, with a club house, lake front and golf access (to the adjacent Pinecrest Golf Club). This would be a good project for the city, adding additional rate payers for city services which by increasing economies of scales, we have kept the lowest taxation level in this county.”
No date has been set for work to begin. ##
