New Modular Apartment Complex will Blend with Historic Architecture

hayes_modular_group_wacotrib__waco_texas_near_baylorModular units originally intended for a large student apartment complex in Waco, Texas will now comprise the first phase of the West Campus Lofts project near Baylor University, according to Warren Hayes of Hayes Modular Group, who has built modular commercial buildings, hotels and barracks around the nation. Built by Trendsetter Homes of Belton, Texas, the original project was abandoned due to financing problems in 2011, but some of the homes had been completed and were then stored in a warehouse, as wacotrib.com reports. Once the infrastructure is completed, 36 modular units will open on the campus of Waco’s one-time alternative school on S. Eighth St., with completion set for 2015. Hayes bought the units and decided to use them in the city where they were first intended. He says the modular units are more modern than the historic school, which was built in 1922, but he will complement the new complex with brick color and detailing. As MHProNews reported June 23, 2014, modular student housing is being utilized at Mississippi Valley State University, among other schools. ##
