Waltham, Vermont is saying goodbye to the six-year abandoned Gevry Mobile Home Park with the sounds of demolition, as it welcomes the new McKnight Lane neighborhood in its stead. Fourteen homes are being demolished and 14 new, affordable modular homes will replace them, according to Katie Forleo of the non-profit Cathedral Square the sponsor of the transition.
MHProNews has learned from mychamplainvalley the $3.5 million project will produce a mix of two and three-bedroom homes.
Chris Falk of Cathedral Square said “All the material used in the units are going to be sustainable, such as bamboo flooring. We will have a sidewalk in place that will let the residence walk into town.” The goal is to produce a net zero neighborhood of homes that is powered by renewable energy sources.
The first model home arrives June 27, with a completion of the neighborhood set for the end of this Nov. ##
