The Chicago Tribune reports that the Four Seasons manufactured home community in Belvidere, Illinois, has not been the same since Beverly and Richard Roeschel moved there 11 years ago. After retiring from their jobs a few years ago, they turned their attention to the community, which has a number of similarly-aged retired residents with shared interests. Beverly organized bi-monthly game nights in the community clubhouse, with food brought by residents, and cash prizes and other goodies are provided by the community owner. She is the hostess for bus trips to attractions outside Four Seasons, and keeps things lively for the other holiday social events in the clubhouse. Richard does chores for some of the neighbors, and Beverly has become the activities organizer. As the result of a promotional TV spot for Four Seasons, she has achieved recognition locally for her likeness to “Aunt Bee of Mayberry” in “The Andy Griffith Show.” The neighborliness and sense of community she has infused into Four Seasons has definitely brought people together. She said, “We watch out for one another. You get that close. It’s a friendly community, with nice people. You don’t have to worry here.”
