Following a story we reported Aug. 31, 2012 concerning an MHC in Canada where residents have had to boil water before using it, MHProNews has learned from CBCNews one of the residents has successfully sued owner Killam Properties. The 300 families at Mountain View Trailer Park in Echo Lake, Nova Scotia have been without potable water since Dec. 2011. Arguing it was a violation of his lease to have to boil water every day, Bruce Baillie was awarded $660.81. He is meeting with other residents to educate them on the process of taking Killam to court. Killam said it will appeal the ruling, that it has won similar suits before. The company has spent $300,000 to install four new wells that should be ready by the end of this month. Killam is one of the largest MHC owners in Canada.
