Updating a story MHProNews posted Aug. 9, 2013 regarding modular jail cells in Poughkeepsie, New York, a plan by Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro to re-purpose funds budgeted to place prisoners in other county jails for their own modular units has been rejected by the county’s Public Safety committee. Democratic County Legislators Joel Tyner and Debra Blalock wanted to discuss moving the $8 million back, which could create jobs in Dutchess County. But Republican Legislature Chairman Robert Rolison says it’s premature to begin that discussion. As midhudsonnews reports, he says, “I think that until we see the pods (modular cells) in place and the people back here we can start to have those discussions with people in the community.”
