MHProNews has learned from thisdaylive that Alpha Mead Development Company (AMDC) has announced its plans to lower the entry level for middle income home buyers in Nigeria, using a modular building system. AMDC is one of the Strategic Business Units of Facilities Management Company, Alpha Mead Facilities & Management Services Ltd (AMFacilities).
AMDC is partnering with Wall-Ties and Forms International (WTF) in responding to the need for low-cost, quality housing units in Nigeria. Managing Director at AMDC, Femi Akintunde, said the formwork aluminum panels provide consistent building quality, ensure strict quality control, considerably decrease the cost of building and one house can be completed within a week.
The initial project is the 112-unit Lekki Pearl Estate where a 60 percent savings over traditional methods of construction is already being realized. He said, “Our aim is to lower the entry level for home ownership to just guaranteed regular income, from where the monthly N250,000 ($1255.00) installments can be paid.” No down payment or collateral is required.
Additionally, using aluminum instead of wood reduces deforestation, and eliminates waste by 20-30 percent over traditional building methods. ##
