A bill before the North Carolina Senate, S.577, filed March 26, 2015, clarifies retitling of a manufactured home (MH) after it has been removed from real property. According to what ncleg tells MHProNews, if a certificate of title has been canceled and the owner of a manufactured home desires to move the home from real property, the owner may apply for a new title providing he or she can verify that the home has been moved.
In addition, information must be supplied documenting the name of the current owner of the real property where the home is to be sited along with written consent of anyone who has a financial interest in the property. With this information, a title application and the appropriate fee, the Division of Manufactured Housing shall issue a new title for the MH in the name of the current owner of the real property where the home is located.
If the measure is passed it will become effective Aug. 1, 2015. ##
