The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has announced updates to its dispute resolution program involving the purchase and installation of manufactured homes for the 23 states that do not already have a HUD-approved resolution process.
A new Office of Manufactured Housing Programs (OMHP) website is designed to help manufacturers, retailers, installers and consumers navigate issues that might arise, as realestaterama tells MHProNews.
Pamela Beck Danner, Administrator for HUD’s Office of Manufactured Housing Programs, said, “They will help consumers and industry better understand the process and lead to an efficient and timely resolution of issues among all parties involved.”
The dispute resolution program provides a formula for repairing or correcting homeowner-reported defects within one year of the home’s installation, addressing construction, safety and installation issues, but not cosmetic or contractual problems.
Most requests for dispute resolutions come from homeowners, although retailers, manufacturers and installers can also ask for dispute resolution when disagreements arise between parties involving a manufactured home issue.
