As a follow-up to a story we published Feb. 28, 2011, TheNowNewspaper in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada tells MHProNews.com modular units used for housing athletes at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler, just north of Vancouver, have been converted into 52 rental apartments for seniors and people with disabilities. Timber Grove Apartments is a collaborative effort between the province, City of Surrey, Coast Mental Health, and Fraser Health. Coast Mental Health will manage the three-story apartment complex and will provide supportive services to the residents. Six different communities in British Columbia have inherited 156 modular units from the Olympics that are now being used as affordable housing.
