BusinessWire reports RW Middle East has begun work on a $98 million contract to build a modular residential development in Simawah, Iraq. The Iraqi Ministry of Housing chose Sama Al Douh Contracting and Real Estate Investments as the developer, and RW will design and build the precast modular units based on traditional Iraqi family values to house 7,000 people, equaling 1,308 dwellings. The development will include a Mosque, restaurants, schools, as well as cultural and health centers. RW’s onsite manufacturing model utilizes local workers, suppliers, and services. MHProNews has learned construction is slated to begin in the fourth quarter of this year, and when completed in two years, the units will be set for move-in occupancy. RW Middle East is part of Rotondo Weirich, Inc. of Lederach, Pennsylvania. The company manufactures correctional, residential, and industrial buildings from precast concrete modules.
