Following another chapter in the attempt by the Dublin, Ireland City Council to site up to 500 modular homes to house the homeless, as MHProNews last reported Jan. 18, 2016, Pinewood Residents and the Balbriggan Community Council (BCC), where the first 22 homes were to be sited, have vowed to oppose the project to the bitter end.
Following a meeting of the two groups, Chairperson Alice Davis of the BCC stated, “The atmosphere at the meeting was determined and people just felt that Balbriggan has been neglected for a long time and there is a lack of facilities and services in our community which have to be delivered before there is more development.”
She also said residents were concerned with increased traffic congestion and road safety issues, according to independent.ie. The two organizations plan to meet with area Councillors to garner their support, and then encourage residents to submit objections at the next Fingal County Council meeting.
Ms. Davis suggested a public protest may follow that meeting. ##
