NewYorkDailyNews says the Nehemiah housing program, shepherded by the East Brooklyn Congregations, is behind the development of 2,219 modular housing units being constructed in East New York, Brooklyn. In partnership with the city and developer The Related Companies LP, the affordable housing is part of a working and middle-class community with access to 36 acres of parkland, a high school, 46,000 square feet of public-use space and 68,000 square feet of retail space. Nehemiah has been behind several affordable housing projects to make home ownership real for many New Yorkers.
