The Manufactured and Modular Home Association of Minnesota (MMHA) reports that manufactured home lender and Green Tree Financial founder Larry Coss passed away May 18 after a two-year fight with cancer. He started Green Tree in 1975 and built it into one of the top lenders in the country, selling it in 1998 to Conseco, Inc. in a $6.4 billion stock deal, according to MMHA. Larry was innovative in his approach to manufactured home and recreational vehicle lending, by providing non-recourse loans to retailers. He also initiated asset-backed loans, making financing available to a broader customer base. In 1999 he was inducted into the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Indiana, and was a long-time member of MMHA. MHProNews extends its most sincere condolences to his family and friends. ##
