Planned Australian Manufactured Home Community Denied

australian manufactured home community  intenational to  creditA plan to develop a 302 site seniors manufactured home community (MHC) in Nulkaba, New South Wales, Australia has been derailed by the Cessnock City Council, citing objections from neighbors who complained it would detract from the rural character of the neighborhood, and would increase alcohol abuse, crime and trespassing on nearby properties, according to theherald.au. Objections also included the plan would create a demographic change “with a shift towards people living alone, who are less likely to be employed.

The project’s urban designer Matthew Wales told the city council the proposal complies with the state’s environmental planning guidelines for MHCs, and that the site was consistent with other MHC sites.

A council report stated The proposed development is inconsistent with the rural-residential character of the area,” and, ‘‘The housing type and density represents an overdevelopment of the site and would change the aesthetic character of the area.

The plan included a club house, indoor pool, bowling green and tennis court, MHProNews has learned.. The applicant has filed a legal action in the Land and Environment Court. ##
