According to the bemidjipioneer, a public hearing will be held Tue., Jan 19 to consider the closure of the western half of the Westwood Acres Mobile Home Park in Bemidji, Minnesota.
Although no reason was given for the closing, the hearing is to discuss the impact of the closing of the manufactured home community (MHC) on displaced residents. Bemidji City Clerk Kay Murphy said, ”It’s a requirement in Minnesota statutes. We haven’t had this happen before in our town, as far as I recall, but it is required to make sure that the residents living in those homes are given fair assistance.”
She said residents who live in that part of the community have been sent a letter informing them of the closing, and to inform them of their possible eligibility for assistance from the Minnesota Manufactured Home Relocation Trust Fund.
Retired Beltrami County Attorney Tim Faver will likely be appointed to handle the requests for relocation funds. Bemidji is located in north central Minnesota. As MHProNews has learned,
mobilehomeparkstore reports Westwood Acres has 143 home sites. ##
