“CNN Flash Poll: Majority of debate watchers say Trump outperformed Biden,” said a report published at 2:53 AM EDT on 6.28.2024 by CNN, which hosted the highly anticipated rematch between Joe Biden and deposed President Donald J. Trump. Left-leaning CNN was praised by some conservatives for a better-than-expected balance by moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. The left-leaning New York Times has this headline: “Dana Bash and Jake Tapper let the Candidates be the ‘Stars…'” of their own debate. Left-leaning U.S. News and World Report said: “To a large extent, it almost didn’t matter that Dana Bash and Jake Tapper were on stage.” Left-leaning Politico, a go to site for Democrats and political junkies headline proclaimed: “How Trump Shockingly Thrived With the New Debate Rules.” While many say the debate won’t sway them, some have indicated that it will. Pre-debate polling reported by Real Clear Politics and elsewhere routinely showed Trump ahead nationally and in most swing state polls too. The tweets and articles that follow some pull quotes from the CNN flash poll will provide a solid snapshot of what the strengths and weaknesses of the candidates were and the analysis and commentary by MHProNews further below will reflect what this might mean for those who want to see organic manufactured housing industry growth and a return to a better economy with more freedom and opportunity for more Americans.
Part I – CNN Flash Polling Pull Quotes
Registered voters who watched CNN’s presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump largely think Trump outperformed Biden, according to a CNN poll of debate watchers conducted by SSRS, with most saying they have no real confidence in Biden’s ability to lead the country. At the same time, a majority who tuned in say it had little or no effect on their choice for president.
Debate watchers say, 67% to 33%, that Trump turned in a better performance Thursday. Prior to the debate, the same voters said, 55% to 45%, that they expected Trump to turn in a better performance than Biden. And in 2020, Biden was seen by debate watchers as outperforming Trump in both of their presidential debates.
Republicans who watched the first 2024 debate expressed broad confidence in Trump’s performance, the poll finds, with Democrats less sanguine about their party’s presumptive nominee. A near-universal 96% of GOP debate watchers say Trump did the better job in the debate, while a more modest 69% of Democratic debate watchers view Biden as the night’s winner.
And 85% of GOP debate watchers credit Trump with doing more than his rival to address concerns about his ability to handle the presidency – by contrast, only 53% of Democratic debate watchers say that Biden did a better job at addressing concerns…”
Among debate watchers who said pre-debate that they hadn’t chosen a candidate or were open to changing their minds, 9% said that the debate had changed their minds, and 25% were reconsidering.”
A 57% majority of debate-watchers Thursday night say they have no real confidence in Biden’s ability to lead the country, while 44% have no real confidence in Trump’s ability to do so.”
MHProNews quick take: so, while many Democrats and Republicans weren’t persuaded to change their minds, far greater numbers believed that Trump won the debate. As the following will often reflect, numbers of Democrats are concerned and are talking more openly about replacing Biden at or before the upcoming Democratic Convention. Time will tell.

Trump takes election war to Biden’s record, leaves president mumbling
Charges America is a ‘rat’s nest’ under current leadership
By Bob Unruh
Published June 27, 2024 at 10:58pm
Joe Biden spent much of the evening appearing to look down at his podium as President Donald Trump accused him of making the United States a “rat’s nest” at the presidential debate Thursday on CNN.
And Biden made several false claims about Trump.
On the border, through which Biden has allowed millions of illegal aliens to come, Trump said, “All he had to do was leave it alone. He decided to open up our border.” It’s one of the major concerns for voters this year.
Trump accused of Biden of allowing terrorists to enter, which has been documented, and prisoners.
Trump charged Biden with “ridiculous, insane and very stupid policies.”
On abortion Biden demanded he would restore Roe v. Wade, which did in fact allow abortion up through the ninth month, while Trump advocated for such issues to be left to states.
One of Biden’s lies was that Trump called American soldiers “suckers” and “losers,” a claim that has been debunked by multiple witnesses to the incident.
On Russia and Ukraine, Trump said, “If we had a real president, respected by Putin, he would have never invaded Ukraine. He did nothing to stop it.”
On Afghanistan, Trump called Biden, the “Worst commander in chief if that’s what you call him.”
Biden, on many issues over the course of the evening, mumbled, hesitated and repeatedly changed his comments, in order to try to respond.
“We’re going to make American great again,” Trump promised. “We are a failing nation because of him.”
Biden was blamed for the terror in the Middle East because he’s allowed billions of dollars to be accessed by Iran, the key terror sponsor around the globe.
Biden claimed, in fact, “We saved Israel.”
Trump also accused Biden of weaponizing the federal government to go after him, Biden’s political opponent.
The Jan. 6, 2021, protest turned riot, which Biden blamed on Trump, actually turned out to be the responsibility of then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, according to her own admission in a video that recently was uncovered.
“I offered her 10,000 soldiers and National Guard,” Trump said. “She turned them down.”
Biden came into criticism, too, for allowing the Black Lives Matter riots to inflict hundreds of billions of dollars in damages to American cities.
Regarding his own response to a politically driven case that prosecutors in New York brought against him, resulting in a conviction that now is on appeal, Trump confirmed what he would do in office.
“My retribution is going to be success. Right now it’s a failing nation.”
Biden repeatedly baited Trump, calling him a “whiner” and even criticizing him for his weight.
Another fabrication from Biden was that Trump said Nazis, at a Charlotteville, Va., protest, were “very fine people.”
Even the leftist “fact-checker” Snopes confirmed this week that that was a lie.
Trump also pointed out that he handed a country to Biden with 1.4% inflation, which Biden turned within months into 9.1% inflation. So far during Biden’s tenure, inflation on consumers has reached more than 20%.
When Trump said he worked on the environment during his four years, Biden responded, “I don’t know where in the hell he’s been.”
But Trump pointed out that he withdrew from the Paris climate accord because it would cost America billions and China nothing.
Biden called it the Paris Peace Accord.
Biden said 16 Nobel Laureates said he would do better for the economy if re-elected, but many of those have records of leftist activism.
Trump’s campaign said, “Tonight President Trump delivered the greatest debate performance and victory in history to the largest voter audience in history, making clear exactly how he will improve the lives of every American. Over and over President Trump highlighted common-sense plans to reduce inflation, bringing down the costs of groceries, housing, and gas, as well as his plans to bring back his successful first-term policies that kept our southern border secure and free from the wave of Biden Migrant Crimes currently sweeping our country.
“Joe Biden on the other hand showed exactly why he deserves to be fired. Despite taking a week-long vacation at Camp David to prepare for the debate, Biden was unable to defend his disastrous record on the economy and the border. Throughout the debate Biden lied, invented stories, and could not articulate a single plan to make things less expensive and keep our people safe, choosing instead to change the subject and dwell on the past. Even worse, Biden couldn’t explain why he took a week of vacation at Camp David while 50 ISIS terrorists ran loose in our country. President Trump is spot-on when he says that if Joe Biden is too incompetent to stand trial, then Biden is too incompetent to be President.”
Trump’s team provided fact-checking in real time during the debate, pointing out that Biden has advocating cutting Social Security for Americans in 1984, 1995, 2007, 2008, 2011 and as recently as 2018.
And then there’s the Biden corruption, with a congressional investigation into his family’s years-long influence peddling operations. The fact-check noted “Crooked Joe Biden” was involved in those schemes for “decades.”
And the fact-check noted the threat Biden offers to America, having brought the nation “to the brink of WWIII.”
The Democrat’s “foreign policy has projected nothing but weakness on the world stage.”
And when Biden claimed to have created 15,000 jobs, a faux pas when he really meant 15 million, the fact-checker said most of those were “recovered” from being lost during COVID.
In fact, the report said Trump created a net 6.4 million new jobs in 37 months of office, to 5.3 million “created” by Biden.
And the fact-checker warned that Biden is the real extremist on abortion
The CNN moderators, both known for or linked to some extreme anti-Trump ideologues, mostly pulled their punches, and conducted most of the event without berating Trump, as had happened in previous debates. ##

‘He Failed’: Biden’s Debate Performance Sparks Concern Among Democrats
Hudson Crozier | June 28, 2024
“There is time for this party to figure out a different way forward if he will allow us to do that,” CNN host Van Jones said after Biden’s presidential debate performance.
Some Democrats expressed disappointment about President Joe Biden’s performance in Thursday’s debate against former President Donald Trump—even suggesting he should step down as their 2024 nominee.
A lack of energy, a raspy voice, stuttering, and rambling answers to questions plagued the 81-year-old president, who faces widespread voter concerns about his age.
Media figures reported that Democrat campaign operatives, strategists, and fundraisers considered the debate a blow to Biden’s chances in November.

NEWS
Trump vs. Biden: 4 Highlights From the First Presidential Debate
Mary Margaret Olohan | Tony Kinnett | June 27, 2024
President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump squared off on Thursday night in the first of two scheduled debates of the 2024 presidential campaign.
CNN hosted the debate, which took place in Atlanta. The network declared that the first presidential debate would be held without a live audience, but would include two commercial breaks—the first presidential debate in history to have ads.
CNN also granted the debate moderators a new power; namely, the ability to mute one candidate when the other was speaking.
Many of those decisions drew ire from critics, but the network’s choice of the debate’s two moderators probably drew the most criticism. Moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash have openly and consistently expressed disdain for Trump, accusing Trump of crimes ranging from Russian collusion and corruption to channeling Adolf Hitler and not “trusting the science” during COVID-19.
Tapper has made a point of refusing to show widely covered Trump rallies and speeches on CNN, explaining that Trump was too “mean” to air clips of him with audio.
However, perhaps because of criticism of Tapper and Bash ahead of the debate, they were largely fair and evenhanded in their treatment of Trump.
Here are four of the major highlights of Thursday’s debate.
1. Medicare for Illegal Aliens?
When discussing his economic record, Biden appeared to lose his way, pausing for several seconds, stuttering, and leading to a claim that he “beat Medicare.”
“… Making sure we make every single solitary person eligible for what I’ve been able to do with COVID, excuse me, with umm, dealing with everything we had to deal with. Look, we finally beat Medicare,” the president said.
Trump responded: “Well, he’s right. He did beat Medicare. He beat it to death.”

Trump then claimed that a large number of illegal immigrants were allowed onto the Medicare and Social Security rolls. At the southern border, illegal immigrants who are taken into Customs and Border Protection or Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody are given medical treatment, shelter, and meals. The ICE Health Service Corps’ current policy is to reimburse those providing those services “at Medicare rates.”
While illegal immigrants are ordinarily not eligible for Medicare and Medicaid, noncitizen parents with “birthright citizenship” children are eligible for Medicaid.
Trump further suggested that Biden would destroy Social Security by overloading it with the cost of illegal immigrants added to the rolls. Biden announced a plan this week to provide some illegal immigrants with work permits and Social Security numbers, which would increase the spending burden on the struggling federal program.
2. Support for Late-Term Abortions?
As Trump and Biden discussed the topic of abortion, Biden appeared to equate the deaths of American women at the hands of illegal immigrants to purported efforts to stop women who are attempting to cross state lines to get abortions.
“There’s so many young women who have been, including the young woman who just was murdered, and he went to the funeral, and the idea that she was murdered by an immigrant, they talk about that, but here’s the deal, there’s a lot of young women who are being raped by their in-laws, by their spouses, brothers and sisters. It’s just ridiculous … and they try to arrest them when they cross state lines,” Biden said.

Biden emphasized that his party supports the restrictions on abortion imposed by Roe v. Wade.
Trump argued that Biden and Democrats support allowing babies to die after they have been born alive, pointing to former Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s comments on what his critics called infanticide.
Biden, angered by Trump’s remarks, emphatically argued that Roe v. Wade does not allow for late-term abortion.
“We are not for late-term abortion. Period. Period. Period,” the president said.
“Under Roe v. Wade, you have late-term abortion,” Trump said, pushing back. “You can do whatever you want, depending on the state. We don’t think that’s a good thing. We think it’s a radical thing. Democrats are the radicals, not the Republicans.”

3. Charlottesville and ‘Very Fine People’
Biden falsely claimed that Trump had said white supremacists and neo-Nazis were “very fine people” at a rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, and that that 2017 event had inspired him to run for president.
Joe Biden brings up the Charlottesville “fine people on both sides hoax.”
This is the moment when unbiased moderators would point out to Joe Biden that Snopes and every other fact checker have pointed out that it’s a lie.
Yet Jake Tapper and Dana Bash naturally didn’t do it. pic.twitter.com/6iU48Ibstj
— Greg Price (@greg_price11) June 28, 2024
Trump responded that the claim of “very fine people” on both sides had been debunked by “reputable” anchors. It was also debunked just this week by the fact-check site Snopes.
Trump actually said, “And you had people—and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists—because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists” to describe those attending a protest over a Confederate statue being taken down.

Snopes and other outlets fact-checked the claim that Trump had referred to “white nationalists” or “white supremacists” as “very fine people,” and rated the claim as “false.”
Biden reiterated that the claim had not been “debunked” and said that Trump was a “liar.”
4. Border Patrol Endorsement
Biden falsely claimed that he had been endorsed by the Border Patrol, saying, “By the way, the Border Patrol endorsed me, endorsed my position.”
Here’s the clip of Joe Biden claiming he was endorsed by the Border Patrol.

— Greg Price (@greg_price11) June 28, 2024
The Border Patrol Union fact-checked Biden in real time during the debate, tweeting: “To be clear, we never have and never will endorse Biden.”
The president also made rather garbled remarks discussing the need for more Border Patrol officers and more asylum officers, to which Trump responded: “I really don’t know what he said. I don’t think he knows what he said either.”
“We had the safest border in the history of our country,” Trump added. “All he had to do is leave it. He decided to open up our border, open up our country, to people that are from prisons, people from mental institutions, insane asylums, terrorists. We have the largest number of terrorists coming into our country right now, all terrorists, all over the world … from the Middle East, everywhere.”

Part V – Additional Information with More MHProNews Analysis and Commentary
Objectively speaking, while there are likely to be celebrations among Trump supporters and there is apparent concern-to-panic among Biden and Democratic backers, last night’s debate – should Biden withdraw – may or may not be helpful to Trump or the GOP if a stronger replacement candidate emerges as a substitute for Biden. That noted, because millions have not tuned into what is occurring until now, last night could prove to be a wakeup call for Biden and Democratic supporters.
In no particular order of importance are the following items.

6) New York born Trump engaged at times in a practice common for him, and for that matter, common for what a lot of New Yorkers (and people from other cultural subsets do) – exaggerate. When Trump says ‘everyone’ that doesn’t necessarily mean everyone. That can be nit-picked and criticized, but it is a minor issue compared to big topics like war vs. peace, higher personal prosperity vs. much, much higher inflation, a dramatic shift to less affordable housing, and so on. It has to be noted that inflation data doesn’t properly include some key items such as housing, per economists. Inflation data doesn’t properly reflect how high it has been under Biden, nor how low it was under Trump.
7) Though our focus is affordable housing and manufactured housing’s key role in that sector, MHProNews has for years featured periodic macro subject reports. Why? Because housing and manufactured housing are subsets of the larger political, cultural, economic, social, and spiritual environment. Regular and detail minded readers of MHProNews would not have been shocked by last night’s debate. There are advantages to shooting straight instead of relying on paltering, projecting, and other manipulation tactics – such as Biden (and, for that matter, MHI all too often) arguably rely upon. MHProNews gets information directly from Democrats, Republicans, Trump, the Kennedy Campaign, and others. We periodically pick an item that illustrates interesting (or troubling) realities. Note that from the second report linked below, left-leaning MSNBC’s Joy Reid, a pro-Democrat, pro-Biden media personality for that network was caught on a hot mic concerned that Biden was leading the U.S. into World War III. It is no surprise, then, that Trump – who still gets an array of national and global briefings – brought up the point that Biden had led the U.S. and world closer to world war than has been true in decades.
8) There is only so much time in a debate, and a candidate in a debate has to pick there shots and roll with that on the fly. That said, on housing and inflation, Trump might have pointed out items like those noted here, because these are often leftist-Democratic sources that are complaining about a fellow leftist-Democrat, namely, Joe Biden.
9) MHProNews has made clear that besides routinely scouring sources across the left-center-right media divide, we routinely tune into Washington, D.C. based WMAL (news-talk radio). This morning, Larry O’Connor aptly noted months ago he said when the DOJ’s special counsel said that Biden wasn’t being prosecuted because he was a sympathetic, frail, and mentally failing older gent, that it should have been a signal for Democrats to pull Biden’s candidacy then and perhaps invoke the 25th Amendment. While CNN’s Van Jones is right, there is still time for Democrats to replace Biden, Van Jones is also correct when he says that Biden (to some extent) has to want to go. If Biden’s ego, or other motivation (say, his son Hunter, his own legal exposure for apparently illicit foreign dealings, etc.), keep Biden from withdrawing, it could become ugly for him and Democrats.
MHProNews will continue to monitor and periodically report. But last night largely vindicated years of reports published here, perhaps due in part because we do source from across the spectrum and then apply common sense to the information gleaned. Meaning, count on us to provide the facts and insights based on evidence and sound analysis. The items that follow are a sampling, there are too many to link.
Years of pro-Biden lies, half-truths, and cagey deceptions were at least challenged during the debate. Will it fuel the ‘great awakening?’ Time will tell. Either way, MHProNews will continue to provide an objective, evidence-based look at what’s happening in and beyond MHVille.
