Legislation introduced in the Iowa Senate Feb. 17 makes changes to existing laws regarding the sale and subsequent occupancy of manufactured homes in rental communities. The proposal deals with disclosure of title and tax assessment information by the seller, liens and mortgages encumbered by ownership, interest rates, abandoned homes, late payments and forcible entry. The laws spell out penalties for failure to comply, and address issues of protection for renters. The bill applies to contracts and rental agreements as of July 1, 2011.
