The marshfieldnewsherald informs MHProNews a woman at the 37-site Birch Tree Estates MHC in Plover, Wis. brought domesticated rats home from pet stores, and over time they bred with wild rats and soon the rodents numbered in the hundreds. The woman has been evicted, and motion sensors in the house have not detected any rodents in the past few days, following the placing of traps in the home. However, even if the rat infestation is resolved, the community owner could still face the loss of his license because of chronically late fee payments, sloppy record-keeping, and falling short of code requirements on trash removal, water safety, and correct anchoring of the homes. There is a 30-day waiting period before the woman’s belongings can be taken away, after which the home will be dismantled.
