The Press-Enterprise reports that the city of San Jacinto, California, is planning to annex some land that includes Country Lake Mobile Home Community. Country Lake residents are protected by a rent control ordinance in Riverview County, but San Jacinto does not have rent control, so any agreement could apply only to Country Lake. The current rent control agreement is based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and capital improvements made by the community’s owner, GBW Investments. The proposed agreement would exempt vacant home sites in the community, and allow the rent to change if a home is sold and remains in the community. Residents say it could make it difficult to sell their homes in the future. A public hearing is set for Thursday, May 12, by the Planning Commission, which will then make a recommendation to the City Council.
