Delaware Online reports the Delaware State Senate has voted down a rent control ordinance. The bill would have required land lease community (LLC) owners to obtain approval for rent increases beyond the consumer price index increase the previous year. The approval would come from the Governor’s Advisory Council on Manufactured Housing. The bill has failed to pass in previous years as well. One legislator said people are being evicted from their homes for non-payment of rent, and the LLC owners are then renting the homes to others or selling them because they are so expensive to move. Senator George Bunting said, “The real bottom line is people being able to keep their homes.”
