A petitioner in Asheville, North Carolina requested the Buncombe County Commissioners rezone a small riverfront manufactured housing community (MHC) from R1 to R-3 to allow him to site three park model homes for vacationers, according to thetribunepapers.com. One of the commissioners, who has been in the MH industry, said the units could be built to modular home standards but not HUD Code since they were not intended as permanent residences. As MHProNews.com has learned, the planning board did not like the idea and the request was denied on a split vote. ##
