Residents Complain of Community Decline

The residents of King George Mobile and RV Park in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada are weary of the community deterioration and lawlessness that the owner allegedly ignores, and have begun a petition to have the Manufactured Home Park Tenancy Act altered so a percentage of rent monies go towards upkeep of the community. According to cbc.ca, a teacher who’s lived in King George for ten years, Elaine Lafontaine says prostitution and drug dealing are dragging the community down, and asserts residents pay for snow removal that does not happen. Owner Heung Soo Yoo was not available for comment, but on-site manager Robert Yachuk says, “I got rid of five nuisance tenants this week. I’m getting rid of two more nuisance tenants.” While complaints have been made to the provincial housing ministry, that agency says concerns should be directed to the City of Surrey or the Residential Tenancy Branch, as MHProNews has learned.
