Curious minds want to know. Knowledge is potential power. Hold those thoughts for later. News ideally reflects reality. But as a recent national event revealed, reality – a.k.a. the truth – can be obscured by a steady dose of seemingly convincing half-truths, lies, and other forms of deception and misdirection. Those methods of mass manipulation go by various names, such as gaslighting, propaganda, spin, which describes the narrative favored by insiders. The recent pivot by Facebook funded fact check site Snopes, which some seven years later corrected a prior and erroneous ’fact check’ they did on what conservative media might call the Charlottesville hoax, is a reminder that favored narratives can ignore inconvenient truths. Award-winning journalist who began his career as an attorney – Glenn Greenwald, who hails from the political left – recently called out much of the left-leaning media for effectively being an arm of the DNC or Democratic National Committee. That happens to fit the contention made by Chris Plante, formerly a 17-year award winning left-leaning CNN veteran who quit being a Democrat and a journalist for a left-leaning platform to become a satirical pundit for WMAL, which station currently uses the slogan “making sense of the news.” What does that introduction have to do with MHVille’s top 30? Depending on someone’s perception, not much or quite a lot, as what follows will explain.
What has been occurring with U.S. media often has its counterparts in other countries. What occurs for what passes as manufactured housing industry trade media – i.e.: the bloggers and diminished numbers of publications which now exist after the decline of the larger and more robust manufactured housing landscape from 20-plus years ago. Destruction can be creative or it can be diminishing in business, science, religion, politics, society, or in journalism.
Manufactured housing pros have options for what or who they read and follow and for the reasons to do so. MHProNews makes the day-by-day effort to share facts and evidence of reality, whether we or others like that reality or not. Sometimes our top read articles have as many views as a wannabe rival gets in a month for all of their content, according to information from rivals and sources such as SimilarWeb or left-leaning Bing’s AI powered Copilot.
We noted above that curious minds want to know. Truthfully, many don’t want the truth, or at least they don’t think they want the truth at all particular moment in time. This has long been known by people across the political spectrum. For example, Upton Sinclair famously quipped that it is difficult to get someone to accept a truth when their income seemingly benefited from buying into a deception instead of the full truth. Sinclair phrased that like this:
Manufactured housing today is but a shadow of its former size and glory. Many in the industry realize that their income depends in good measure on going along with all, some, or much of an insiders’ favored narrative.
Once upon a time, MHProNews used to give even more data in these reports than this current one. But none of our wannabe rivals followed suit. Indeed, MHInsider (for example) used to have a tool that revealed how many people viewed an article. The totals were so embarrassingly low, that after a few fact-checks reported by MHProNews they apparently disabled that views counter. Fortunately, another tool reveals their totals are still dismally years after they launched. Be that as it may, our management made the decision to list the MHProNews top 30 (or whatever is provided in a given report) and leave out certain specific details.
Inquiring or curious minds want to know.
When some 70 percent of the country thinks that ‘the system is rigged’ and most people believe that much of media is not entirely trustworthy, MHProNews and our sister site steadily made the pivot to longer articles that clearly cite and/or link the source and give readers the opportunity to double check our research and analysis for themselves. We went from USA Today style briefs over a dozen years ago to ever longer and more detailed items that put an array of facts in the hands of readers like you.
Apparently, most readers like it. Traffic continues to overall rise. Millions come and read, often multiple articles in a session. Without bragging, nothing else known in MHVille even comes close.
The top 30 that follows are ranked by which article was the most read for the 30 days of June 2024. MHProNews has thousands of posts, by far the largest and apparently most-read site of its kind in manufactured housing today. Readers may find some prior month (or year’s) report to be of importance, and as the top 35 that follows reflects, some articles stay popular or surge in the ranking based on reader engagement. So, it is far from automatic that the reports for June are automatically in the top 35.
Some items are withheld for proprietary reasons, but the ranking is nevertheless as ‘voted’ by reader engagement (visits/views). Software on our site log visits and views. Data is generated by Webalizer, which in turn is shared below with readers like you.
Our software doesn’t ‘see you,’ but it does detect certain information. So, for instance, we know that a healthy share of traffic is from public officials (.gov), from nonprofits (.org), from educators/academics (.edu), etc. visitors. While the vast majority of our visitors are from the U.S.A., Canada and other nations – often from countries where international investors hang their hats – are part of our readership mix.
Note that the topics run the gamut of manufactured housing industry specific items as well as broader national political, media, social, etc. research and reports. Obviously, an article published later in the month has less opportunity to get viewed and read than an article published earlier in the month. There is no adjustment made for that reality, but the date of publication is shown, which also reflects that point that more authentically ‘historic’ information is arguably found on our site than any other MHVille trade publisher or blogger. Based upon known information that was confirmed by Bing’s AI powered Copilot, someone can take MHI’s website, plus their member-linked publications/bloggers and combine them and still not have but a fraction of the pageviews and visits on MHProNews. With that focused introduction, here is the top 35 for June 2024, per data generated by Webalizer.
Following the listing of the top 35, Part II will provide some hopefully thought-provoking editorial observations on those top 35. Part III is the first, one, and only Daily Business News on MHProNews market recap. No one in MHVille provides more macro- and manufactured housing industry connected market-facts, analysis, and information. No one. That is one of the multiple features that takes time, effort, and dedication performed here at MHProNews which apparently others are simply not willing to invest. We thank our wannabe rivals for lacking the gumption and other qualities needed to provide the kind of information that we do; it is doubtlessly among the reasons we dominate. Rivals may make big claims but won’t share the data or do the work that backs up their big claims. Facts matter.
BTW: MHVille is a rather affectionate term for the artificially small, manufactured housing industry. Why is manufactured housing performing at less than 1/4th of the production that occurred in 1998? In some form or fashion, that ever-timely question receives insights and evidence from the various reports that follow. More on that curiosity that the U.S. population has grown, that manufactured housing is widely praised by third-party researchers, yet the manufactured home industry (a.k.a.: MHVille) is underperforming throughout the 21st century in Part II.
Part I – MHVille’s Top 35
The data above is per the largest of our baker’s dozen servers and according to Webalizer that support the MHProNews platform. Per Webalizer, there were 42,902 Total Referrers for the month of June, so to be in the top 35 is like being pinnacle of the tiny fraction of a single percent. According to left-leaning Wikipedia: “”Referer” (a misspelling of Referrer[1]) is an optional HTTP header field that identifies the address of the web page…from which the resource has been requested. By checking the referrer, the server providing the new web page can see where the request originated.” MHProNews has thousands of articles/posts, and frankly it is one of several advantages that our platform has over other wannabe rivals. More on that in Part II #1, below.
Part II – Additional Information with More MHProNews Analysis and Commentary
In no particular order of importance are the following observations.
1) Millions of visitors come annually to MHProNews. As of 7.1.2024 the average visitor for the past 11 months (plus a 1/3 of a day) view 5.46368909 pages per visit. So, rounding that off, the typical visitor who comes via a link (such as via our popular x2 weekly emailed news update link or clicking on a search result, etc.) reads an article and will typically go to about 4.5 other articles. Or, visitors will come to our site, scan the home page and pick an article that catches their eye, and they check that out plus visit 3.5 other articles before leaving our site. Some industry pros have told us they always have a browser tab open on MHProNews and they refresh and read what they want. But to compare that 5.5 views per visit, the data from SimilarWeb linked here indicated that the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) only earned 1.13 pages per visit. Clearly, MHI is NOT the dominant source for news in the industry, per the known data. CNN and Fox dwarf our sites in visitors. But in terms of pageviews per visit, MHProNews outperforms both of those, again, per Similar Web. On the date in question – MHI, by comparison, has about half-of the pageviews per visit as CNN. Ouch and ouch for MHI.
2) Depending on how someone might categorize the above, 5 or 6 of the 35 articles above are macro-politically focused. It is a clear indicator that those sorts of topics matter to manufactured housing industry professionals. Inquiring minds want to know. It is obvious that manufactured housing is a subset of the U.S. What happens to America obviously impacts what happens to manufactured housing. While the reverse is also true, it is perhaps less so than the former reality.
3) A dozen articles (+/-) depending on how one categories such matters) are focused on publicly traded firms that are involved in manufactured housing. While our wannabe rivals do ‘report’ on companies by name, they rarely if ever do using the kind of granular factual evidence and detailed analysis that MHProNews does. They might mention some data point, but then will fail to explore what that data means and if it is consistent. As a fresh report on MHProNews reflected yesterday, Warren Buffett reads years and years of corporate annual reports. But there are no other sources known in MHVille that provide that sort of granular detail for pros, other than MHProNews. Thus, is it surprising that the others beyond MHProNews/MHLivingNews which publish or blog – who routinely brownnose (based on visual, ahem, evidence – not to mention the proverbial smell test) – they can’t, don’t, or won’t seriously critique the powers that be by naming names and providing evidence. It should be apparent that since Warren Buffett led-Berkshire bought into manufactured housing, that the manufactured home industry has never recovered to its prior production levels since then. More on that further below.
4) Numbers of those reports above are media-revealing and include historic information. “The most insidious power the media has is the power to ignore,” says ex-CNN turned WMAL pundit Chris Plante. Plante also speaks about the power of “information dominance” over our society. Information dominance, and all too often toady, brownnosing, fluffing media is arguably why Buffett isn’t in a federal prison. Buffett himself has jested about he and his late partner Charlie Munger being “partners in crime.” What Buffett and others of his ilk have collectively done to manufactured housing, and by inference, to the nation at large, is on several levels potentially criminal on a massive scale. Samuel Strommen and Robin Harding are just some of several sources that have said so, but who in MHVille besides MHLivingNews and MHProNews have reported the vexing evidence for that concern?

7) Every year, MHProNews has aimed to present and refine the information that helps explain how the affordable housing crisis, and more specifically manufactured housing’s place in that crisis, could possibly be occurring.
