The Modular Building Institute (MBI) has chosen the Ruth Lake Lodge north of Fort McMurray in Alberta, Canada as its Building of the Month for Sept. 2014, according to realestaterama.com. Providing housing for employees of the Athabasca Oil Sands industries and visitors to the area, the complex has over 600 rooms comprised of 235 modules that make up the 232,000 square foot lodge. Amenities include an extensive work-out facility, a business center, restaurant, energy efficient appliances, Wi-Fi access, two story common areas and clerestory windows. The modular lodge was manufactured and built in 319 days by BCT Structures of Lethbridge, Alberta. MHProNews knows the MBI honored MEG Energy Pirate’s Cove Lodge, also in northern Alberta, Canada, first place in the modular commercial housing category in 2013, as reported here March 26, 2013. It also is as much a resort as workforce housing. ##
