For manufactured housing professionals who believe that the Trump Administration has been good for the industry, the following will be of interest. For those in MHVille who believe that the 45th president and his GOP party has been a problem for the industry, this will be of equal interest.
“If you do not think 5-4 #scotus decisions aren’t being scrutinized by conservative populist
voters, then you have not been paying attention to how Evangelicals & #2A voters view courts & politics,” tweeted Washington Examiner writer Salena Zito, adding” That slim margin energizes them to come out 2018 and 2020. https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/564518/the-great-revolt-by-salena-zito-and-brad-todd/9781524763688/ …
That tweet was prior to the announcement of Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy saying today he will retire on July 31, 2018.
Justice Kennedy, is seen as a moderate, and was appointed to the Supreme Court by President Ronald Reagan in 1988, says Wikipedia.
Conservative Townhall notes Kennedy authored landmark rulings relating to gay rights, the death penalty and campaign finance.
Zito’s tweet above is noteworthy, because if she is correct, the Kennedy decision could further energize the Trump base for 2018 and 2020. Zito and her co-author did in depth research on the Trump voter, and what she discovered is reported in their book, “The Great Revolt.”
“The Great Revolt” by Salena Zito and Brad Todd does much to tell the story of our great Election victory,” tweeted President of the United States (POTUS) Donald J. Trump on May 7, 2018, adding, “The Forgotten Men & Women are forgotten no longer!”
Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS)
Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, reminded voters via Twitter that his decision not to allow then President Barack Obama’s pick, Neil Gorsuch to be seated on the U.S. high court, is considered to have been a motivating factor for the political right.
President Trump, as well as Democrats and their strategists, have pointed to POTUS Trump’s SCOTUS appointee to Justice Gorsuch as a key figure in the recent 5-4 split votes that went this week the 45th president’s way.
Coupled with dozens of other judicial appointments, political strategists say that President Trump is shaping the high court as much as POTUS Obama did during his 8 years in office.
Expect both Democrats and Republicans to be energized by today’s announcement. Both sides will be fundraising off this.
If Zito is correct, and this motivates the conservative-centrist Trump base as much as it did in 2016, this could be a high turnout for the 2018 midterms.
That in turn could make a difference in how the next Congress will be poised for more regulatory, tax, immigration reforms plus other domestic policies are handled in the next Congress. Stay tuned, because this promises to be as wild a ride as 2016, which will have an impact on your manufactured home business and investments. “We Provide, You Decide.” © ## (News, analysis, and commentary.)
