BClocalnews.com from British Columbia, Canada, says the residents of a manufactured home community no longer fear a bare-land strata that they thought would force them to leave their homes. The provision would give them the opportunity to buy the land their homes sit on, and maintain their access to communal amenities and common areas. Seventy-seven percent of the 120 voters of the Brinkworthy community approved of the plan. Those who do not buy their land may continue to rent their homesites without fear of being evicted. Similar senior community homeowners in other parts of British Columbia have been forced to move for landowners’ developmental purposes. The provision gives them security as well as the opportunity to some day sell their homesite.
