Washington, D.C., November 4, 2013 – The Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR) reports that according to official statistics compiled on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), manufactured housing production increased once again during September 2013. Just-released statistics for September 2013 indicate that HUD Code manufacturers produced 5,483 homes, a larger than expected increase of nearly 25% over the 4,393 HUD Code homes produced during September 2012. Cumulative 2013 industry production now totals 45,295 homes, an 8% increase over the 41,909 homes produced over the same period in 2012 (which, in turn, represented a 13% increase over cumulative industry production during the same period in 2011).
A further analysis of the official industry statistics shows that the top ten shipment states from the beginning of the industry production rebound in August 2011 through September 2013 — with cumulative shipment totals as indicated — are:
1. Texas ——————————– 23,321 homes
2. Louisiana —————————– 9,210 homes
3. Florida ——————————– 5,842 homes
4. Alabama —————————— 5,303 homes
5. North Carolina ———————— 5,264 homes
6. Kentucky —————————– 4,717 homes
7. Mississippi —————————- 4,645 homes
8. Oklahoma —————————- 3,791 homes
9. Tennessee —————————- 3,774 homes
10. California —————————- 3,741 homes
The latest information for September 2013 does not result in any change to the top-ten shipment list.
With a slight tapering in recent shipments of manufactured homes to North Dakota and other oil producing areas, the strong growth during September 2013 indicates increased demand across other regions of the country.
