The city council of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada is asking for public input on a proposal to replace four homes with a modular apartment complex containing 60 units in the downtown area. Council gave first reading on a bylaw amendment to change the zoning from R2 residential semi-detached to CBD-C, which is Central Business District by contract, according to weyburnreview.com. While Council Member Dick Michel questioned whether the city needs more condos, developer Kevin O’Brien says he gets calls every month from seniors looking for apartments who are downsizing and want to live where they can walk to church, shopping and medical care. Noting he will work with the council on possible changes, he plans to have Guerdon Modular of Boise, Idaho build the modules, MHProNews has learned. The proposal will be discussed again July 27, to allow time for public comment. ##
