The 2024 general election outcome has obviously impacted consumers, employees, employers, investors, public officials, consumers and others as reporting and analysis by MHProNews has and will reveal. For instance. Manufacturing moved to China from the U.S. steadily over the course of decades, as many in or beyond MHVille know. Manufactured housing components were part of that move of sourcing products for industry producers from Communist China. Given that an important element of the Trump-Vance and MAGA Republican agenda is to bring back manufacturing to the U.S. via the use of tariffs and other stick/carrot economic motivations, it is clear that every producer will have to take the new realities into account. While it is obvious that shoes are not manufactured home components, the announcement by Steve Madden is nevertheless relevant and important for MHVille pros to digest and consider. One well-placed source in the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) orbit of MHVille has told MHProNews off the record that they are already in the process of shifting their sourcing of components away from Communist China. That said, according to left-leaning Wikipedia: “Steven Madden, Ltd. is a publicly traded company that designs and markets shoes and fashion accessories.” Madden’s announcement may be of significance to producers in manufactured housing who have routinely been importing products from Communist China or Vietnam, or even from nations such as Mexico. That will be the backdrop to Part I of this post on MHProNews. Next, according to International Policy Digest: “Hamid Enayat is an Iranian political analyst and writer residing in Paris whose articles are frequently published in the Western media in English and French.” Keen insights from Enayat relevant to energy issues and thus costs, domestic and international affairs is Part II of today’s MHProNews post. The energy side of the Trump-MAGA agenda is arguably a significant plus for the industry and consumers alike.

Part III will be additional facts-evidence-analysis (FEA) through the lens of manufactured housing employees, employers, investors, consumers, and others.

Shoe company speeds up timeline to take manufacturing out of China

Plan ‘in motion’ to cut operations in Communist regime 40%

By Ireland Owens, Daily Caller News Foundation November 8, 2024

Steven Madden said Thursday that it is accelerating plans to shift production out of China in anticipation of President-elect Donald Trump introducing increased tariffs on imported goods when he returns to office, according to Bloomberg.

The New York-based retailer said in a company earnings call Thursday that it is now planning to reduce products manufactured in China by 40% within the next year, according to Bloomberg. The company had previously set a target of a 10% reduction within the next year, according to Bloomberg.

“As of yesterday morning, we are putting that plan into motion,” Steve Madden CEO Edward Rosenfeld told analysts on an earnings call Thursday, Bloomberg reported.

Trump beat Vice President Kamala Harris in his bid for reelection, securing 270 electoral votes by about 2 a.m. EST on Wednesday following his winning in the key battleground states of North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Georgia. The U.S. stock market soared Wednesday following the Republican’s victory.

The president-elect previously proposed increasing tariffs on various imported goods, including saying in September that he would impose a 200% tariff on John Deere’s tractors if it closed an American factory and moved production outside of the U.S. to Mexico.

Trump has also promised to enact policies aimed at accelerating domestic production throughout his presidential campaign, including announcing in October that he would make interest on car loans fully tax deductible to boost domestic auto manufacturing and lower the cost of car ownership.

The president-elect introduced various tariffs during his previous administration, including enacting tariffs on steel and aluminum in 2018. Many of these tariffs drastically raised the price of incoming goods from China.

Trump’s election is very troubling to top terror-sponsor Iran

‘While the Biden administration has publicly claimed it was committed to enforcing sanctions, energy analysts report that Iran’s exports have actually increased 4- to 5-fold since 2020’

By Hamid Enayat | November 8, 2024

HamidEnyatIranianPersianBasedInParisAuthorExpertPhotoThe election of Donald Trump is giving the Islamic Republic of Iran fits.

On Nov. 6, immediately after the electrifying U.S. election, Iran’s state-affiliated Setareh-Sobh newspaper lamented the lost opportunities during President Biden’s four-year term. Citing a regime-affiliated expert, it wrote: “Iran had good opportunities over the past few years. … We should have made gains during the Democrats’ term. The problem, however, is not with the U.S.; the unresolved issue lies within the country itself (read: the regime); Why did four years of a Democratic administration in the White House yield no results for Iran?”

Israel-Hamas war
After the Israel-Hamas war began on Oct. 7, 2023, questions immediately surfaced about how Hamas’ assault on Israel was financed. The vast network of underground tunnels – stretching, as Iranian media claim, farther than Tehran’s metro – and the logistical support for such an operation could not have been executed by Hamas alone. There was little doubt that Tehran was the main financier, and as a result, the Israel-Hamas conflict and its tragic outcomes intensified calls to halt this financial flow.

This increased pressure on President Biden to curb Iranian oil exports, even if it meant risking a politically sensitive rise in global oil prices.

Despite U.S. sanctions targeting Iran’s nuclear ambitions, its support for terrorism and its military aggression in the region, Iranian crude oil exports have risen significantly during Biden’s tenure. Some U.S. lawmakers have criticized this trend as “appeasement” of Iran.

While the Biden administration has publicly claimed it was committed to enforcing sanctions, energy analysts report that Iran’s exports have actually increased four- to five-fold since 2020, with China emerging as Iran’s largest buyer. According to a Nov. 6 report by the state-run newspaper Etemad, “Iranian oil exports in recent years have returned to pre-sanctions levels, while during Trump’s presidency, they had dropped below 500,000 barrels per day, significantly impacting Iran’s oil sector.”

The Foundation for Defense of Democracies estimates that the increase in Iranian oil exports since Biden’s term began has brought Iran an additional $32-$35 billion. Though the calculations are complex, the reasons behind Iran’s windfall are clear: As part of President Biden’s quiet diplomacy with Iran, the U.S. has relaxed sanctions enforcement. Buyers and intermediaries have concluded that the risks are low, and the discounts on Iranian oil are too enticing to pass up, as the Wall Street Journal reported on Nov. 10, 2023.

As a result, Iranian oil sales in 2025 will be a politically sensitive issue, highlighting a stark contrast between President Biden and President-Elect Donald Trump. As state-run newspaper Etemadi reported: “Trump’s approach emphasizes maximum pressure sanctions that can quickly impact Iran’s oil sector, which is why, if he wins the election, the dollar rate may increase by around 10%. Under Trump, Iranian oil exports fell below 500,000 barrels per day, creating significant pressure on Iran’s oil sector.”

In stark contrast, the Biden administration, in addition to its facilitation of Iranian oil sales, also allowed Iran access to $6 billion in frozen assets as part of a prisoner-release deal.

Absolute poverty for two-thirds of Iran’s population
Following the 2015 nuclear deal (the so-called “Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action” or JCPOA), over $150 billion of Iran’s frozen assets were made available to the regime. Over the last four years, Iranian oil sales to China, offered at substantial discounts, have returned to pre-sanctions levels.

Meanwhile, however, absolute poverty has spread to two-thirds of Iran’s population, according to state-affiliated newspapers, despite the country’s wealth in oil, gas and mineral resources. The proceeds from oil sales are either embezzled or redirected toward the Iranian regime’s terrorism and warmongering efforts.

Part III – Additional Information with More MHProNews and Relevant Facts-Evidence-Analysis (FEA)

1) Foreign and domestic policies obviously have interconnected elements. The true stance or policies of a given party, leader, organization, or company are often knowable even when conflicting claims exist. That is possible by looking at the facts, not just the rhetoric.  The insights from Hamid Enayat are an example of this. It is likely that millions had little or no clue that” “While the Biden administration has publicly claimed it was committed to enforcing sanctions, energy analysts report that Iran’s exports have actually increased 4- to 5-fold since 2020.” That is a shocking reality check for those who believed Democratic talking points, perhaps due to the news sources that they follow, rather than looking beyond mere claims to the known evidence. These principles apply to manufactured housing as well as the USA and other nations more broadly regarding the outcome of the 2024 electoral contest of Donald J. Trump and J.D. Vance (R) vs. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz (D), plus their respective parties in local, state, and national electoral contests.

2) During her roughly 3-month campaign, Kamala Harris seemed to back away from her strong anti-fracking and other energy related policy stances. It should go without saying that energy costs impact virtually every aspect of American business. Nevertheless, from ‘day one,’ the Biden-Harris regime stopped the Keystone XL pipeline, for example. Of course, MHProNews reported on that issue and its ripple impact on our industry. Obviously, oil/fuel and thus transportation is a factor that drove up costs under Biden-Harris, and now potentially under Trump-Vance and MAGA GOP leadership, that cost could come down in the course of the next year or so.

A range of increased costs caused manufactured home prices to go up at a what appears to be a near record pace after Biden-Harris took office.

3) Per the U.S. Census Bureau is the following data snapshots to illustrate evidence for that point. The average cost of all manufactured homes produced, using U.S. Census Bureau data, in the 32 months from Jan 2021 to Sept 2023 was 1.26, or a 26 percent increase for consumers (see table below).  Using the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) “priced out” data, that means millions that previously could have qualified for a manufactured home no longer could, due in large part to factors directly attributable to Biden-Harris policies.

United States Total Avg Single Double

4) MHProNews editorially observes that it is entirely possible that after Trump-Vance, their team, and MAGA Republicans take over both the House and the Senate that a raft of information could be revealed that will point to either massive corruption and/or inept leadership during the Biden-Harris years. Despite promises before taking office that Biden-Harris would be transparent, there is already evidence that precisely the opposite forms of behavior were the norm under Biden-Harris, which became known for censorship at levels never previously known in U.S. history. How Biden-Harris era corruption and/or ineptitude played out with respect to MHVille is illustrated in part in the second linked report below. The third linked item is an illustration of a point raised by Senator J.D. Vance (OH-R), who is now the vice-president elect.

5) Interestingly, as it became ever more widely known that Democrats were the party of bigger businesses, more billionaires, Wall Street, and deeper pockets, the appeal to some traditionally working class and middle-class voters to Trump-Vance and MAGA increased. No less a figure in Democratic politics than multiple Democratic presidential campaign hopeful Senator Bernie Sanders (VT-Democratic Socialist) made it clear that Trump and the MAGA movement appeal to kitchen table issues are part of the reason that they won and Democrats lost.  But Sanders isn’t the only leftist to take such a stance. Other examples are Congressman Seth Moulton, who was featured on that concern of his pre-election by MHProNews.

6) Let’s be clear. The battle over what Joe Biden (D) aptly called “the soul of America” is not over. That cultural war is heating up. But the 2024 election may be seen in hindsight as a turning point. Allowing men to compete against women in sports was never ‘science.’ To deny XX and XY chromosomes exist was anti-science. To have a Democratic Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Onyika Brown Jackson say that she couldn’t define what a woman was because she is not a biologist was just one of numerous examples of how far left, and how detached from reality, Democratic leadership had become. At some point “normal” point pushed back, regardless of party affiliations.

The willingness of those who embraced, or tacitly accepted, the leftist push included more than an abandoning of authentic science for political correctness.

RememberNormalBuckleUpForManufacturingConsentOxfamBillionairesWorldAndTheAmericanDreamRealityCheckMobileManufacturedHomeLivingNews
https://www.manufacturedhomelivingnews.com/remember-normal-buckle-up-for-manufacturing-consent-oxfam-billionaires-world-and-the-american-dream-reality-check/

7) The cultural/reality check norms conflict included accepting demonstrably untrue claims made by Democratic candidates over the course of years. Among those were those who said that Joe Biden was fine, when he obviously wasn’t.

But it wasn’t just Harris, Biden’s press secretary, and Democratic leaders who peddled falsehoods to the public, hoping they would ignore evidence to the contrary. Large parts of the left-leaning legacy media did so too. No wonder trust in media is at a record low under the Biden-Harris years.

8) Democratic leadership also drove up regulatory costs.  Those costs are in turn passed onto the American people. Trump has pledged again to roll back regulations, thus reducing the cost of doing business in the U.S. It was a theme he hit immediately before the election, but often during his 2024 campaign.

9) So, the announcement by Steve Madden of bringing back manufacturing to the U.S. ought to be seen as part of a picture that very much impacts manufactured housing. MHI linked trade media simply haven’t or don’t address such issues. Yet the impacts and implications for consumers, employees, and companies are made clearer by this report.

10) So, when Hamid Enayat said Biden-Harris regime allowed Iranian oil exports to soar, there are numerous ramifications. Among them are economic. But also among them are the fact that that revenue from that boost of Iranian oil sales went to funding terrorist groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. Less peace not only cost lives, but results in increased military-industrial-spy complex spending.

As a disclosure, this writer has family and friends in Iran and know from sources on the ground there that the increased revenues did not benefit the Iranian people.  The Obama-Biden (D) era policies were misguided and so where the Biden-Harris (D) policies toward Iran bad ones. Not only did the Iranian people suffer, but death and destruction followed in several parts of the Middle East. The Trump policies were sane. By contrast, the Biden-Harris policies fueled and funded chaos.

11) MHProNews reported yesterday that just electing Trump has triggered several positive developments. But it has also triggered leftist protests.  See that report for details. Don’t expect the leftists in the U.S. to go quietly into the night, said an expert. Don’t take Biden’s or Harris’ concession and well wishes at face value.

12) Thus, dismantling the so-called “deep state” or “blob” is another aspect of what is going to be a skirmish. But unlike his first term, Trump knows what is coming. He and his team admitted they weren’t ready for the hurdles by regulators in his first term and initial transition. This transition is going to be different, Team Trump has said. Leftists and Democrats may and have decried that, but the evidence is there.

13) As odd as it may sound at first, Biden-Harris and these 4 years of hellish economic, political, media, cultural, and related moves by leftists funded by billionaires in concert with Democrats could prove to be pivotal for some time to come. It may make Trump 2.0 far more effective. If MAGA Republicans stay faithful to the Trump pledge of “Promises Made, Promises Kept” the move of the country to the right could accelerate. Manufactured housing is tucked away as part of that broader mix. What’s good for America should prove to be good for the manufactured home industry and affordable housing seekers.

There is discussion of years of possible impact of this election on the future. Patrick Bet David’s interview clips with Lara Trump are examples of insights into the transition, lessons learned by Trump from his first term, and how the future could be brighter and better going forward for years – IF the GOP/MAGA movement keep their principles and promises in focus. Note Patrick Bet David, who like Enayat and MHARR’s Danny Ghorbani, is of Persian/Iranian ancestry.

14) MHProNews/MHLivingNews plan to continue to cover the nuances and battles and how it can or does impact the economy, affordable housing in general, and manufactured housing specifically like no one else in MHVille. As the linked reports and Q&As with Copilot, Gemini, and other evidence clearly reveal, our twin platforms are the only sources in MHVille that have covered topics like this. Which means that the other sources are great examples of the contrast between authentic (MHProNews/MHLivingNews) and faux (MHI-linked bloggers and publications) reporting and analysis.

15) A post on the American Press Institue (API) website said, “that engaged journalists generate trust in their fact-based journalism by building relationships guided by an ethic of care.” With that in mind, “I would like to offer our congratulations to Tony and Soheyla Kovach on the 15th anniversary of MHProNews. MHProNews provides the manufactured housing industry with a resource that is truly indispensable — an independent source of news and commentary on industry and industry-related issues that is not beholden to the views, interests, or influence of any single group, organization, or behind-the-scenes puppet-master.  MHProNews provides a crucial service for the HUD Code industry and deserves its full support.” – Mark Weiss, J.D., President and CEO of the Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR).

One source said in an email “Tony…keep up the great work, as you keep the weasels in our industry constantly looking over their shoulders…and that’s a good thing.”

And there is this.

Tony,
Congratulations on the 15th Anniversary of MHProNews, and more specifically, congratulations to you for initiating, maintaining and preserving this important service, against all odds, for our great industry and our deserving consumers.
I say this because before you started MHProNews, our industry was in dire need of a hard-hitting, truth-seeking and truth-telling independent investigative journalist and publisher who would spend time to understand not only the complicated business structure of our industry, but also the complex regulatory and legal matters which distinguish it and drastically impact its members, while reporting such information accurately and objectively, regardless of who may be pleased or offended. This is quite important because, as an industry that is comprehensively regulated by federal, state and local governments, both industry members and consumers need and deserve this vital information.
You understood this need and acted accordingly by creating the MHProNews, and the rest is history.
Congratulations again,
Danny
