Riverine Development, Inc. first proposed this manufactured homes project near Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2004, according to AnnArbor.com. After numerous battles involving Superior Township officials and residents, judges, the developer, state environmental quality control and the state attorney general, the outcome is still in doubt. The focus has been on a state-denied wastewater discharge permit, now being appealed, and whether current residents have the right to choose their neighbors or not. Voters approved a levy to raise money to fight the development. Township officials maintain the water quality will eventually decline, and that zoning does not allow such density of homes on that property. A hearing on the denied permit is set for June 15.
