Washington, D.C., September 3, 2014 – The Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR) reports that according to official statistics compiled on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), manufactured housing industry production growth continued during July 2014. Just-released statistics indicate that HUD Code manufacturers produced 5,675 homes in July 2014, a substantial 18.4% increase over the 4,793 HUD Code homes produced during July 2013. Cumulative industry production for 2014 now totals 36,350 homes, a 7.1% increase over the 33,926 HUD Code homes produced through July 2013.
A further analysis of the official industry statistics shows that the top ten shipment states from the beginning of the industry production rebound in August 2011 through July 2014 — with cumulative, monthly, current year-to-date (2014) and prior year-to-date (2013) shipment totals per category as indicated — are:

This strong production growth in July 2014 is further confirmation — as MHARR has consistently maintained — that this is not the time for unnecessary and costly new make-work regulation under the HUD Title VI program or expanded energy mandates by the U.S. Department of Energy, and that such regulation must be resisted by both the industry and consumers.
