Updating a story MHProNews last posted Feb. 11, 2016 regarding an ordinance passed by the planning and zoning commission in Mojave County, Arizona that would allow manufactured homes built after June 15, 1976 to be sited, the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve the ordinance, according to kdminer.
Originally, the Board had approved an ordinance Dec. 2, 2015 requiring homes to be no older than seven years if they were sited in the county, but opposition from home owners, installers and retailers convinced the supervisors to abolish that ordinance.
Homeowners stated they could not necessarily afford a a new home, nor did they like having to pay taxes on a home that was essentially deemed worthless if it was older than seven years. Retailers complained they could not sell homes older than seven years, regardless of condition, which would wipe out a considerable amount of their business if they could not accept trade-ins beyond the seven year limit.
The only other requirement is that homes have a valid label issued by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) certifying the date of manufacture. ##
