It was part of the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Decades after it was first a hit, the song and its lyrics Everybody Wants to Rule the World was performed originally by Tear’s for Fears’ has had amazing staying power. The song is in Ready Player One, which has been described in part as an unsubtle slam against trailer houses, mobile homes, and manufactured housing. Everybody Wants to Rule the World is also featured in the trailer for the popular new biopic “Reagan” (see further below). “The song was a worldwide success, reaching number one in the United States, Canada, and New Zealand.” According to left-leaning Wikipedia, Tears For Fears debut of Everybody Wants To Rule The World: “was released on 22 March 1985 by Phonogram, Mercury, and Vertigo Records as the third single from the album. Google AI powered Gemini also said: “The song was a worldwide success, reaching number one in the United States, Canada, and New Zealand. It also reached number two in Australia, Ireland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, and number three in Belgium.” In this report with analysis will start from Everybody Wants to Rule the World and then it will meet and examine the headline notion of ‘He May Be an SOB, But He’s Our SOB.’ That is attributed by Wikipedia as follows: “Roosevelt (FDR) supposedly remarked in 1939 about Nicaraguan dictator Anastasio Somoza that “Somoza may be a son of a bitch, but he’s our son of a bitch.” Left-leaning Yahoo News said that during a town hall earlier this week in the key swing state of Pennsylvania said: “Donald Trump has made Pennsylvania voters an offer he insists they can’t refuse: They have “no choice” but to vote for him in the 2024 presidential election.” ““You can sit there and say, ‘I can’t stand that guy but there’s no way I’m gonna vote for her [i.e.: Kamala Harris],’” he added.” WMAL’s award-winning pundit Chris Plante said on 9.6.2024 that the witty remark by Trump, which set townhall attendees into cheers, reminded him of the famous FDR remark which Plante applied to Trump: ‘He may be a son-of-a-bitch, but he’s our son-of-a-bitch.’
According to Poe in a post last updated June 6, 2024 is the following.

These are just a few examples of movies that have included the song “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” in their soundtracks. The song has also been featured in various TV shows, including Riverdale, Happy!, The Deuce, Pose, Mr. Robot, Psych, and more [1].”
Since a version of that is used in the new bio-pic movie Reagan, it may well be that it is also in that movie’s soundtrack too.

Part I
That may seem a million miles away from Tear’s for Fear’s famous 1985 lyrics “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.” The following is from AZ Lyrics, and the video has had about 474 million views on YouTube as of this date.
1)
Tears For Fears Lyrics
“Everybody Wants To Rule The World”
Welcome to your life
There’s no turning back
Even while we sleep
We will find you
Acting on your best behaviour
Turn your back on mother nature
Everybody wants to rule the world
It’s my own design
It’s my own remorse
Help me to decide
Help me make the most
Of freedom and of pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world
There’s a room where the light won’t find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do I’ll be right behind you
So glad we’ve almost made it
So sad they had to fade it
Everybody wants to rule the world
I can’t stand this indecision
Married with a lack of vision
Everybody wants to rule the world
Say that you’ll never never never never need it
One headline why believe it?
Everybody wants to rule the world
All for freedom and for pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world ##
2) According to left-leaning Google’s AI powered Gemini:
The lyrics to Tears for Fears’ 1985 hit “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” are about the desire for power and its consequences. The song’s lyrics also hinted at the threat of global nuclear war that many people at the time perceived as imminent.
Some say the song’s message is vague and that it teaches a lesson about how power-driven society can be. Others say the song is a testament to how chaotic the pop landscape was in the 1980s.

3) American Songwriter said in 2023 about the meaning of that hit and its lyrics the following.
Meaning Behind Tears for Fears’ Poignant Song “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”
By Alex Hopper | August 14, 2023 6:00 am
Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” has been a staple needle drop in coming-of-age stories, karaoke bars, and late-night playlists since its release in 1985. The bright musicality of the song is hard to resist while the thought-provoking lyrics make the song gritty enough to resonate with several generations of audiences.
“‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’ was so simple and went down so quickly, it was effortless, really,” Hughes once explained (per Songfacts). “In fact, as a piece of recording history, it’s bland as hell.”
The lyrics to the song became an anthem against greed and power hunger in the world. In the opening verse, frontman Curt Smith sings about the inescapable eye of “Big Brother.” Elsewhere are allusions to nuclear war (There’s a room where the light won’t find you) and rising tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union at the time of the song’s release (Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down).
To the band, the song’s message is as needed now as it was during the Cold War.
“I think a lot of these songs, now that I’ve listened back to them, are kind of just as poignant as they were then, but just towards different people, different areas of the world,” Smith told Yahoo! in 2017.
“Back when we were doing Songs From the Big Chair and ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World,’ we were really discussing the Cold War,” he continued. “But it was the U.S. and Russia then, and now the concern is more the U.S. and Korea. I find that fascinating.”
Most of freedom and of pleasure

4) Entertainment, be it songs or videos (movies, etc.) have often shined a light on the rising plight of an increasingly dystopian society. Dystopian is the flipside of Utopian which is described as a nirvana-like ideal. Here is a partial list of movies that have included Everybody Wants to Rule the World.
According to Lyrics.com, those lyrics are found in these movies.

5) From this longer review of Ready Player One (RP1) is the following.
“The Stacks” Fictional History
“The Stacks were originally trailer parks that were inundated with refugees who sought to live closer to the cities as the energy crisis hit. An idea to stack the trailer parks caught on and trailer parks across the country quickly evolved into “stacks”; strange hybrids of shanty towns, squatter settlements and refugee camps. These parks began forming scattered around the outskirts of most major cities overflowing with uprooted rednecks had fled their dying towns to the nearest metropolis.”
If the sound eerily more plausible today, in the wake of record illegal immigration, inflation, unaffordable housing, and the like, then you’ll grasp why MHProNews is featuring this today.
6) Entertainment has long been used to convey aspects of reality. That is true in music, in movies, books, or other communications mediums. Beyond Ready Player One, consider the possible insights from the following movies.
Wag the Dog (1997)
Enemy of the State (1998)
Then, there is this clip from Ready Player One. This trailer to the movie doesn’t the Everybody Wants to Rule the World, but it does have Jump.
7) Like the song, Everybody Wants to Rule the World, each of the movies above had elements inspired by real life.
8) Pivoting to the rest of the headline. Even before FDR reportedly remarked about Nicaraguan dictator Anastasio Somoza, that ‘He may be a son-of-a-bitch, but he’s our son-of-a-bitch,’ retired Marine Major General Smedley Butler was touring the country warning the nation that the U.S. military has been used as Wall Street’s enforcer in War is a Racket.
9) Over a century ago, President Woodrow Wilson (D) was seemingly plucked from a university, had a message polished up, so he could run and win two terms in the White House.
10) Not a Joke – The CIA Said It
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was used to pull of psy-ops and paramilitary operations in various countries to get friendly regimes in power. A psyop, said Gemini, “stands for “psychological operations.” Perhaps a psyop could be justified by American leaders because the alternative was that Communists would have done something similar to take power in a country. Who said that? Some left wingers? Some right wingers? Yes, but how about getting the list provided to MHProNews by the CIA itself? See that vintage CIA document linked here. Tears for Fears said it: “Everybody wants to rule the world.”
11) It should not be thought that every election, every regime change is or has been corrupt. This next CIA document said that about 15 percent of the power changes they studied were due to governmental interference. But that 15 percent is significant. It should not be thought that this is a good excuse to not vote. What this should be seen as is a reason to swamp the ballot boxes with authentic voters that will root out the swampy corruption.
Per the CIA: “Regime change by government fiat has consistently accounted for 15 percent of all regime changes throughout the period of this study.”
This once classified CIA referenced document said:
“This paper was prepared by the Political Instability Branch, Office of Global Issues.” Comments and queries are welcome and may be addressed to the Chief, Foreign Subversion and Instability Center, OGI.”
Doesn’t that sound dystopian or Orwellian?
12) Next, go back in time to the Biblical Tower of Babel. What does the Good Book say? From the NIV version, Genesis 11:1-9 is the following. The ruling class at the time wanted to build a tower into heaven so they could challenge God. Now that’s chutzpah.
The Tower of Babel
11 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2 As people moved eastward,[a] they found a plain in Shinar[b] and settled there.
3 They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”
5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. 6 The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”
8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel[c]—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
13) People have been scheming for thousands of years before Warren Buffett said the following two and always timely reminders for the 99 percent. Keep in mind that Buffett has backed Democrats for years. So have many of the other centi-billionaires in Buffett’s “class.”
14) Well informed professionals in manufactured housing know that Buffett led Berkshire Hathaway which owns Clayton Homes has wielded and outsized influence on manufactured housing for most of the 21st century. There are times that Buffett didn’t hide the thirst of the wealthy for power. Note that the sources for the above and below are left-leaning media operations.
15) It would be easy to get tempted into thinking that the insiders have too many advantages and too much power. But the record is clear. From time-to-time, there are clear examples when the insiders came tumbling down.
16) From the left and right, there have been and are voices that have said what has been going on for decades.
An example from the left is Noam Chomsky and Edward S. Herman and Manufacturing Consent. Per Wikipedia:
Overview. The film presents and illustrates Chomsky and Herman’s propaganda model thesis that corporate media, as profit-driven institutions, tend to serve and further the agendas and interests of dominant, elite groups in the society.
From Four Minute Books:
This Manufacturing Consent summary shows how the news is skewed by the upper class who use their power and money to control what is shared.
Here are 3 of the most fascinating lessons from this book:
1) The media covers events in ways that favor the elite ruling class.
2) Because of the need for advertising revenue, news outlets focus on stories that will benefit their advertisers.
3) Experts give facts and information that are really just a form of the upper class controlling the media with their money.
17) Keep in mind that MHProNews opened this year with the mostly-from-the-left award-winning Shadows of Liberty.
18) From Europe, and some might say from a more center-right perspective, are these observations from author, historian, and influencer Hanne Nabintu Herland.
19) Or from the U.S., and from the right, is this from Justin Haskins at the Heartland Institute.
20) Decades ago, a billion said he didn’t want thinkers, he wanted workers. That still holds true. The powers that be in MHVille hate it that this platform not only exists, but is popular and well-read among industry pros.
22) Congressman Seth Moulton (MA-D) is still a Democrat in good standing. But he recently said that the Democrats are the party of the ultra-rich. MHProNews’ Masthead reported weeks before that remark that the richest parts of the country are routinely Democratic.
23) A common theme in several of these viewpoints is that the U.S.A. is effectively an oligarchy. Or what MHProNews previously reported that a leaked Citigroup document called a plutonomy. Investopedia defines a plutonomy in this way.
Plutonomy refers to a society where the wealth is controlled by a select few and where economic growth becomes dependent on that same wealthy minority.
24) Asked about plutonomy, Google’s AI powered Gemini said this.
Plutonomy is a term that describes an economy where a small group of people control most of the wealth and income, and consume the majority of goods and services. It can also refer to the study of wealth production.
The word plutonomy comes from the Greek words ploutos, which means “wealth”, and -nomia, which comes from nemein, meaning “to manage”.
The term was popularized in 2005 by Ajay Kapur, a global equity strategist at Citigroup, to describe the rapid growth of the U.S. economy.
Some studies have predicted that the world will continue to become more plutonomic, due to factors such as capitalist-friendly governments and tax regimes. However, these studies have also warned that there is a risk of political backlash against the growing wealth of the rich.
25) That concern by the wealthy of a popular backlash Gemini spoke about has also been reported by MHProNews. Billionaire Nick Hanauer, in what might be described as a Buffett-like bit of paltering, posturing, and deflection, has spoken and written at length about Pitchfork Economics.
27) But let’s pivot back to U.S. politics, as we are now less than 2 months away from elections, and early voting is about to start. As noted, Everybody Wants to Rule the World is featured in the trailer for Reagan, which is in theaters now. We plan to see it this weekend.
28) MHProNews weaved in some history earlier. We indicated the evidence that the CIA has influenced elections and political activities overseas. But what about domestically? Here in the U.S.? According to Senator Chuck Schumer (NY-D), the intelligence community (which obviously includes the CIA) has ‘6 ways from Sunday to get back at you.’
29) This video from the Real News Network says that former vice president George Bush (R) who became the 41st President of the United States (POTUS) was a CIA chief. Think about what General Butler said about business, Wall Street, and what Ike called the military industrial (spy) complex and how it influenced U.S. governmental activities.
30) In what might be one of his most memorable lines, World War II general turned president Dwight D. Eisenhower (R) warned that “We must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial [which includes intelligence or spy operations] complex. The potential for disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.” That warning not only holds for the military-industrial-spy complex aspect of influence over governmental power, but it is also an indicator of a broader pattern that MHProNews has been illustrating for our readers for years. Because a parallel exists for housing too.
31) Leftist Michael Weinstein aptly noted that there was a parallel to the military industrial complex that he called the affordable housing industrial complex. Weinstein lashed Democrats, who he said were failing Americans.
32) To borrow a phrase from Dan Bongino, don’t fall in love with politicians. Fall in love with outcomes and results. The outcomes from the Biden-Harris years have been terrible for most of the U.S. Another higher profile Democrat just announced that she is abandoning the Democratic Party and is going to vote for Trump. “Gloria Romero, former Democratic majority leader in the California state Senate, has announced that she will be switching to the Republican” party and supporting Donald Trump, per left-leaning Newsweek.
On 9.5.2024.
God is MOVING indeed!
Thank You Lord for all You are doing!BREAKING: California Democrat Gloria Romero, who served as the State Senate Majority Leader, has just announced that she’s leaving the
Democrat party and becoming a Republican and will be voting for Trump this November https://t.co/41ogYfwEao— Donna ✞ GodFamily🇺🇸Music🎶 WalkByFAITHnotBySight (@mdZvqPln) September 5, 2024
33) Donald Trump was previously a Democrat. Ronald Reagan was previously a Democrat. Elon Musk describes himself as a moderate Democrat, and he has made billions under Democratic party ties, but he put his support behind Trump over Kamala Harris, who he calls a Communist. Harris’ father was a Marxist, which is connected to Communism. Several of Harris’ positions, actions, and key votes helped fuel inflation and she has called for limits on free speech. Who will decide what speech is okay and what is not, Harris and Democratic insiders?
Next Tuesday’s debate on ABC may be pivotal. Harris skipped out on a possible debate with Trump on Fox News, so they held a townhall in PA instead with Trump. During that townhall, Trump said the following, which sent the attendees cheering.
Trump’s message to Pennsylvania voters:
“You can’t take the chance! You have no choice! You’ve gotta vote for me! Even if you don’t like me! You can sit there and say ‘I can’t stand that guy, but there’s NO WAY I’m gonna vote for her!'” pic.twitter.com/LRZIbwzRGj
— Townhall.com (@townhallcom) September 5, 2024
34) It is said that 15 percent of voters are still undecided. Watch the debate on ABC next Tuesday. It may help decide the outcome of the 2024 election.
35) Longtime Democrat and former Congresswoman from Hawaii Tulsi Gabbard exposed Kamala Harris’ problematic stances in the 2019-2020 Democratic Presidential Primary. Gabbard is credited with having derailed Harris’ scripted campaign then. Gabbard has endorsed Trump over Harris.
Lifelong Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr. or “Bobby” Kennedy Jr.) launched his campaign warning against the nexus of corporate power over government. MHProNews reported on that over a year ago.
36) Kennedy dropped out of the Democratic primary after saying the Democratic Party had rigged the primary process to favor Joe Biden.
37) Bobby Kennedy Jr. has said that the Democratic Party is so dominated by insiders that it has abandoned the poor, minorities, retirees, women, and working classes that it used to represent. That is not very different than what Congress Seth Moulton (MA-D) said in an interview, when he proclaimed Democrats were the party of the ultra-rich. RFK Jr. has said that Democrats have become the war party. Kamala Harris has made statements that indicate that RJK Jr. is correct.
38) A sizable percentage of the population will vote for Harris and her running mate Gov Tim Walz (MN-D) regardless of what anyone says, does, or writes. But Walz family have made clear who they support.
39) When much (not all) of big media, big tech, the billionaire class, Wall Street have thrown their lot in with Harris-Walz, shouldn’t it be obvious that they believe that Harris-Walz will represent their interests over that of the masses of Americans? Isn’t it obvious that 8 years of Obama-Biden, now over 3.5 years over Biden-Harris left Americans worse off, not better off? That the only time during the 21st century that people were advancing was under former Democrat turned Republican Donald Trump, who beat the Bush wing of the GOP? It has only been under Trump that real incomes rose faster than inflation, according to this graphic by CNN.
40) Trump isn’t perfect, no candidate is. But there are obviously reasons why the left backed by billionaires and big corporate interests are so intent to keep him from regaining the White House.
41) We plan to see Reagan, in theaters now. We’ll let you know later what we think. Because facts matter. Evidence matters. History, the present, and the future all matter. If everybody wants to rule the world, we need someone who will try to make the world a better place for the majority of Americans, not for the fat cats that run some Republicans and most Democrats who have not fled that rich-man’s party. The Rich Men North of Richmond (VA) is a deception for the Washington, D.C. metro, where Democrats dominate. The MHVille market report is up next. ###
