MHProNews has learned from athensreview the Athens (Texas) City Council voted to amend an ordinance that alters the age of manufactured homes (MH) that are allowed to be sited in the city. The ordinance originally allowed MH from 1990 to be moved in, according to Athens Director of Planning and Development Gary Crecelius, but the new ordinance requires the home to be no more than five years old.
The Athens Zoning Commission voted to amend the ordinance at the recommendation of the city council.
“I just know that we’re getting some eyesore areas in places where there are mobile homes because the mobile homes have deteriorated so badly,” Mayor Jerry Don Vaught said. Located just southeast of Dallas, Athens is the home of Athens Park Homes, part of Champion Homes. ##
