A U.S. Senator made what will be a surprising (to some) statement that if the logic of it is applied could work faster at solving the affordable housing crisis in the U.S.A. faster than robustly implementing federal laws which could unleash increased manufactured housing production. It would also involve enforcing federal laws that have also often been allowed to languish, especially during the past 3+ years under the ‘leadership’ of the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris (D) team. Can you guess what that ‘one thing’ might be? It is indirectly related to what this senator said. “Under Federal law, only citizens are allowed to vote in Federal elections. Here’s the tragic thing Maria, over the last 3, 3 and a half years, since the Biden administration has been in power, they have let in about 12 million illegal aliens,” Senator Mike Lee (UT-R) said on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo. Lee, per the Gateway Pundit, was discussing the SAVE Act, a congressional bill that would require proof of US citizenship to register to vote. While of interest on its own merit, Lee’s statement to Bartiromo that will be unpacked in the analysis of the headline context. Namely, Lee claimed that all told there are supposedly some 30 million in the U.S. illegally. So, if a Trump Administration term 2.0 is the outcome of the November 2024 general election and given the deposed president’s statements about deporting those in the U.S. who are here illegally, in theory that could rapidly remove x million Americans from housing that would then become available for U.S. citizens and for foreign nationals who are authorized to be in the U.S. under federal law. More on that will follow the actual remarks by Lee, which will set the context for his revealing statement.

“The Supreme Court has interpreted it as prohibiting those at the state level who register people to vote from requiring the production of evidence of documents proving citizenship,” Senator Lee explained.

Quoting
at the right-leaning Gateway Pundit, who said the following.Senator Mike Lee’s concern for illegals and non-citizens voting is not unfounded. Under the Biden regime in the last 3 plus years, a shocking 10 to 12 million illegal aliens have invaded the United States.
That number equals about the population of 41 individual states.
Joe Biden himself even referred to illegal aliens as “voters.” The quicker the left can “legitimize” illegals to vote, the closer they will be to stealing another election.”
According to Copilot: “However, he [Senator Lee] is a sponsor of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which proposes requiring proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections1”
Per Pew Research some 4 years ago: “Today, more than 40 million people living in the U.S. were born in another country, accounting for about one-fifth of the world’s migrants.” While not all of those came to the U.S. illegally, since then, another 10 to 12 million or more migrants have illegally entered the country. Senator Lee said in that video posted above that there are an estimated 30 million illegals in the U.S. at this time.
About 6 months ago, Pew said this on 11.16.2023 on the subject of the “unauthorized” or illegal immigrant population.
Between 2007 and 2021, the unauthorized immigrant population decreased by 1.75 million, or 14%.
Meanwhile, the lawful immigrant population grew by more than 8 million, a 29% increase, and the number of naturalized U.S. citizens grew by 49%. In 2021, naturalized citizens accounted for about half (49%) of all immigrants in the country.”
That graphic below, per left-leaning Pew, suggested that at the time (2021) there were 47 million foreign born people living in the U.S., but that only 22 percent or 10.5 million of those were illegals. Adding in the estimated 12 million who have entered the U.S. under Biden-Harris and Democratic leadership, that would mean there are about 22.5 million (+/-) illegals living in the U.S.A.
Also, according to Pew.
The share of unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. workforce was slightly less than 5% in 2021, compared with 3% of the total U.S. population.
Demographics help explain the difference: The unauthorized immigrant population includes relatively few children or elderly adults, groups that tend not to be in the labor force.”
Pew also noted the following.
The six states with the largest unauthorized immigrant populations in 2021 were:
- California (1.9 million)
- Texas (1.6 million)
- Florida (900,000)
- New York (600,000)
- New Jersey (450,000)
- Illinois (400,000) …”
Copilot suggested that the average household size of the illegal population is difficult to calculate but provided the estimated average number of 2.6 people per household.
Part II – Additional Information with More MHProNews Analysis and Commentary
Using the 22.5 million illegals estimate, based on the insights above and presuming 2.6 persons per household, the Google calculator yielded the following results. 8,653,846 households.
If the deposed 45th President Donald J. Trump is reelected as a result of voting on or before 11.5.2024, and if in fact he implements a policy of swift expulsion of illegal immigrants, that could hypothetically mean some 8.65 million housing units that would become vacant.
While estimates of the number of housing units needed vary widely, some common estimates are 6 to 10 million units are needed to close the needed housing gaps. But based on known sources and the wide range of claims (sometimes as low as 2 million but sometimes as high as 20 million), this number of housing units required in the U.S. is difficult to nail down. For example, MHProNews reported that in 2022 alone, some 8 million young adults ‘moved back in with mom and dad.’ One might think that millions moving back in with parents would create some number of vacant housing units in its wake.
Immigration and Deportation
Left-leaning FactCheck.org said: “According to Tammy Kelly, archivist at the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum in Independence, Mo.: “We have not found evidence that President Truman deported over two million illegal immigrants to create jobs for Americans.”” Also, per that source is this.
Eisenhower
Truman’s successor pushed harder, presiding over what was officially called “Operation Wetback,” a vigorous, federally led effort to remove illegal Mexican immigrants from the Southwest. (The term “wetback” is a disparaging term applied to Mexicans who swam or waded across the Rio Grande River — and today is considered an ethnic slur.) …the operation lasted only a few months, not the “two years” claimed…”The operation trailed off in the fall of 1954 as INS funding began to run out,” according to the Texas State Historical Society.” “INS, 1955: The so-called ‘wetback’ problem no longer exists. … [T]his is no longer, as in the past, a problem in border control. The border has been secured.”
Be that as it may, enforcement of existing laws – be they border control, eVerify, or in manufactured housing where the ideals of “enhanced preemption” mandated under the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act (MHIA) of 2000 (a.k.a.: 2000 Reform Act, 2000 Reform Law), or the Duty to Serve (DTS) Manufactured Housing mandated under the Housing and Economic Recovery Act (HERA) of 2008 need to be robustly enforced. This is a topic that merits its own article, but lax enforcement of a range of laws are an issue, as is overreaching by ‘enforcing’ some standard that may not be law but is nevertheless being deployed, often for some political motivation.
Per Copilot, eVerify requires the following.
E-Verify is a web-based system that allows enrolled employers to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States. Here are the key requirements:
- Verification Process: Employers use E-Verify to verify the identity and employment eligibility of newly hired employees. This process involves checking information against government databases.
- Form I-9: Employers must complete Form I-9 for all employees within three days of hire. E-Verify complements this process by electronically confirming the information provided on Form I-9.
- Enrollment: Employers must enroll in E-Verify and follow the guidelines set forth in the E-Verify Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
- Employee Participation: Employers must use E-Verify for all new hires, including U.S. citizens and non-citizens.
- Timeliness: Employers must initiate the E-Verify process within three business days of an employee’s start date.
- Non-Discrimination: Employers must use E-Verify consistently for all new hires and avoid discriminatory practices...”
In a separate query, Copilot said this.
Governor Ron DeSantis has taken steps related to E-Verify in Florida. Here are the key details:
- E-Verify Requirement for Public Employers and Contractors (2020):
- DeSantis signed a bill in 2020 that mandates E-Verify for public employers and contractors.
- Public employers must use E-Verify to verify the eligibility of newly hired employees.
- Private employers have a choice: they can either use E-Verify or complete the federally required employment eligibility forms and retain copies of supporting documents1.
- Ban on Sanctuary Cities (2019):
- In 2019, DeSantis signed a law prohibiting local government entities from having sanctuary policies.
- The law requires county jails to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement and support federal immigration law.
- Supporters argue it improves public safety, while opponents raise concerns about discrimination and trust between law enforcement and immigrant communities1.
In summary, Florida now requires E-Verify for public employers and contractors, and it has banned sanctuary policies1…”
But the sheer numbers of illegals living in Floridia and in other states makes it clear that eVerify is a law that has largely been thwarted under both Democratic and Republican administrations.
Mini Summary
Senator Lee’s remarks about an estimated 30 million are living in the U.S. illegally may or may not be accurate.
Using the data shown above, it may be more accurate to place that estimate at about 22.5 million (+/-) illegals in the U.S.
Then based on other insights above and presuming 2.6 persons per household, the Google calculator indicated there may be 8,653,846 households that could be deported under a Trump 2.0 term.
It would be all but guaranteed that litigation would follow such a deportation order. Even presuming Trump Administration success on such an issue (possible, but not a given), it is likely that 1, 2 or more years might elapse as the issues would work their way through the courts.
Other mechanisms might be invoked, such as eVerify, which may require legislation to strengthen its provisions, and that too would likely be challenged in court.
Nevertheless, if such pressures are on illegals living in the U.S. are created, and this is hardly an exhaustive list, it is entirely possible that some in the U.S. illegally will ‘self deport.’ That has occurred from time tot time. Meaning, the mere threat of action could result in a stream of whatever size of those exiting the U.S. for their native or another land.
That legal and illegal migration both impact housing demand is beyond question.
That Biden-Harris era toleration and purported de facto facilitation or encouragement of illegal migration has been costing taxpayers potentially hundreds of billions of dollars is a matter MHProNews has previously reported. Beyond the financial costs and the ripple effects on the U.S. economy and political landscape, there are other human costs to what is occurring. Criminal cartels are being empowered and enriched. Rapes, sex- and human-trafficking are occurring at significant rates. Illegal drugs are entering, which are estimated to number 100,000 Americans occurs annually that is linked to criminal activity involving immigration. Furthermore, deaths occur among migrants in the desert, at river crossings, and elsewhere.
This is a horrific and arguably despicable abuse of millions of souls who, per claims that merit a separate report, are being indirectly funded by a combination of abusing federal funds and nonprofits often linked to leftist billionaires and corporate interests. The allegations make it clear that senior officials in the Biden-Harris Administration know what is causing this influx of illegals, which Joe Biden signing dozens of “executive orders” (EOs) which reversed Trump-era border policies also played a key role. Bluntly, this influx of illegals is “a manufactured crisis.” The harms to illegals as well as American Citizens and those foreign nationals here legally was entirely predictable. That combination is what makes this despicable. Yet, Democratic leaders did this despite the harm to their own constituents and the harm to those making the often treacherous journey into the U.S.A.
- 1) Illegal immigration is often at or near the top in polling in issues that will motivate voters in 2024, per public opinion polls (see reports linked above).
- 2) Inflation is another often top 3 issue among likely voters in 2024.
- 3) Housing inflation is an important subset of inflation. It is also increasingly viewed as a separate political and policy issue. These three issues clearly are linked, and thus MHProNews has for years (well before the Biden-Harris era) reported on issues relating to immigration. In the wake of Bidenomics fueled inflation, MHProNews have routinely mentioned that cause-effect relationship that has had on the U.S. housing market.
Even other Democrats, through minority led caucuses, have ‘asked’ Biden to enforce policies that could ease the housing crisis.
It isn’t just right-leaning sources that have reported on items that are embarrassing to Democrats and the Biden-Harris team. Left-leaning CBS News is among those in mainstream media who have little choice but to report on how badly Bidenomics has hurt the majority of the population. Leftist Michael Weinstein ripped what he called “Corporate Democrats” for “failing” their own base of voters.
Then, there are younger adults who are increasingly feeling locked out of the American Dream of home ownership and are even feeling locked out of access to affordable housing.
Million pay very little attention to politics and news, with the periodic exception of the runup to an election. As has been observed, even if someone ignores politics, politics and politicians are making moves that obviously impact Americans of all backgrounds.
Despite not just poor, but often tragically harmful policies during the Biden-Harris era, former lifelong Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr. all but said that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) rigged the nomination in Biden’s favor. If that happened once, has it occurred before? Another longtime Democrat made a similar claim about the 2016 election. Donna Brazile said the nomination was rigged to keep Bernie Sanders from winning the nomination so that Hillary Clinton could be the nominee. Former Democrat and former award-winning CNN reporter Chris Plante has often quipped, “the Democratic Party Isn’t” just as “friendly fire isn’t.” Meaning, just as so-called “friendly fire” in wartime can be deadly (and thus, isn’t friendly), so too the Democratic Party isn’t behaving in an authentically Democratic fashion.
Notice that Kennedy and Weinstein are making similar arguments. Both are from the left. They are saying that Democrats are, and have for years, been beholden to corporate influence and power. They are each saying that Democratic leaders are bought and paid for by billionaires and their big corporate-big nonprofit interests. This pattern is hardly new, as former governor Jerry Brown (CA-D) said something similar approaching 30 years ago.
Certainly, Kennedy is a controversial figure who has said several controversial things. That said, he is a successful attorney, often advocating for progressive causes like the environment. Perhaps because he has questioned and now is challenging leaders in the Democratic Party and their ties to corrupt corporate interests, Kennedy for years has been ‘smeared.’
Kennedy has called what is occurring the work of technocrats and a “corporate kleptocracy” that “replaces democratic process with arbitrary edicts of unelected technocrats” that he says are routinely in the pockets of the industries that they regulate.
If that sounds eerily consistent with what longtime Democratic supporter Warren Buffett and several of his colleagues have said, why would that be a surprise?
The dark gift, so to speak, of the Biden-Harris era is that the ties between big media, big tech, many (not all) billionaires, Democrats and RINO or “Establishment” Republicans, is more clearly coming into focus. While we are hardly alone, MHProNews/MHLivingNews have been periodically reporting on evidence of these realities for years and have often done so by citing pro-Democratic sources. While anything can be debated, these are not solely partisan allegations. These are evidence-based statements from the entire left-center-right spectrum. As a disclosure, management of MHProNews have been political independents for over a decade. That’s not to say that it is better to be an independent, in a state like Florida, where independents can’t vote in partisan primaries, it could arguably be a disadvantage. But that is said a) because it is accurate, and b) so that it is clearly understood that it isn’t partisanship that motivates this reporting. Facts, evidence, and applied common sense have long been the driving forces behind our reports and analysis.
Every candidate is human and therefore flawed. Elections may be binary choices, or there may be multiple candidates to select from. But whatever the case may be, it should be obvious from the experience of the past 3 1/3 years that Democratic leadership has led the U.S. into a literally poorer place.
Biden Harris and their Democratic colleagues have been talking about solving the affordable housing crisis while they have in fact been fueling and causing less housing affordability. It is obvious that letting millions of unvetted immigrants into the U.S. is going to have a range of ripple effects. That includes a net lowering of wages. It includes a net increase of housing costs. It includes more taxpayer expenses which either means more borrowing and/or higher taxes. All of that has inflationary impact. There have been periodic defections by some Republicans (so-called RINOs or Establishment Republicans) that have voted in support of Democratic bills and policies. But the driver of these policies are Democrats and their big corporate big donor backers. Democrats, it has been said, can’t afford to publicly admit that they are in the pockets of the very people that they claim to be working against. The hypocrisy is breathtaking. And it operates in plain sight, for those willing to pull together the evidence, as reports like this one has done.
The way to shake up this quagmire is to oust those who have been fueling these policies. It is likely, say a range of pundits, that Biden will not be standing for election in 2024, his polling keeps slipping. Harris is not very popular either. But whoever it is that runs as the Democratic nominee clearly should not earn the vote of the vast majority of the population. Similarly, it isn’t enough to vote against the Democrats at the top of the 2024 ticket. They have accomplished what has occurred because they had control of both houses of Congress for the first two years Biden-Harris were in office. Meaning, opponents of Democrats should earn the votes of voters who disapprove of the direction of the country.
With the insights outlined above, is it any surprise that party affiliation has shifted toward Republicans per left-leaning Gallup?
(Asked of independents) As of today, do you lean more to the Democratic Party or the Republican Party?

Much of the big corporate media and big tech have openly or slyly supported the Democratic agenda. The corporate-backed Democratic agenda has demonstrably harmed Americans.
Perhaps the reason that MHProNews has apparently 30x plus the audience size of MHInsider, per known sources such as SimilarWeb and Webalizer, is because this platform has the willingness and ability to report on such issues. To learn more, see the linked and related reports.
So, in conclusion, if Trump wins in November 2024, and if deportations are in the future of migrants who have been manipulated and treated like human pawns by corporate and Democratic leaders, it is possible that x million housing units could become vacant. That is one of several steps that could reduce housing costs. It is one of several steps that Trump 2.0 might deploy to reduce inflationary pressures. It is one of several steps that may be ahead to reign in runaway government.
Unraveling the lies, paltering, and half-truths that are so big that it is difficult for some to imagine takes time. It could be summed up in a few lines, but those lines fail to give the necessary details. Here is how leftist activist Danny Glover put it.
According to a report on the right-leaning Washington Times, that cites the Center for Immigration Studies and U.S. Census data: “Just 46% of new immigrants are working, census data show.” That is based on ‘recent’ arrivals.
Biden has overseen the fastest expansion of immigration — legal and illegal — in U.S. history, but less than half of the newcomers are holding jobs, according to a report released Monday.
The Center for Immigration Studies, using Census Bureau numbers, calculates that 46% of immigrants who arrived over the past two years are employed. That challenges a key selling point from immigration advocates that the stream of newcomers is critical to the U.S. economy.
Some immigrants say they are looking for work, but most — including the elderly, children and caregivers — are out of the labor force, the report said.”
Let’s be clear. Trump is an imperfect candidate. Many of his fellow Republicans are also imperfect candidates. But at this time, Americans have little other rationale choices. Additionally, the fact that big government Democrats, much of big media and big tech has so targeted Trump, it is akin to an endorsement of him as the best option to stopping the corruption that has occurred in our political and institutional processes. It will take more than one election cycle to fix this mess. But re-electing Trump appears to be the surest bet of rooting out the corruption that has occurred in the major parties and that has given the donor class such a stranglehold on U.S. institutions that has limited our industry and so many others too. See the linked and related reports to learn more.
